9/18 and 9/25 so far. I heard from a guy from my we hire class that starts tomorrow and he is at Hyatt. I got the reservation email for next week at Hyatt. I know the first few classes were at Doubletree.

They used to put the new hires up at the LaQuinta on JFK. At any rate, it's gotta be better than the Holiday Inn where I spent 4+ weeks for ExpressJet training, although I'm one of the few sickos that still likes Good Eats.

I'd hate to be the one making waves before we even arrive...but if you are going to be there 8 weeks, don't you think there should be safe places to walk to at night after getting out of the simulator? I'll hold off judging the place till I see it...but thanks for the heads up.

IMO - The hotel itself is clean and up to date. Pricey food and beers, but go out before dark to the gas station and grab some there (Just over a 5 minute walk towards the mall). The entire perimeter has a fence. Not sure how great security is, but its something.

Anyone doing any extended stay near IAH should be somewhere on JFK. At least that way you have much more food and entertainment options, and it's only a quick four minute drive to the TC.

As far as Rick's - it's a place to go. IAH has no shortage of clubs, but if you are in the mood to go out you've gotta find St. James Club. Not that far away, better girls (At least there were when I was there) and an overall nicer place.

It's good to make waves, that's how things get changed.
BUT, remember the DoubleTree RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET from TK?
And the memos that came out after two crewmembers were attacked?!

Us new hires had to fend for ourselves, and stayed even further down the road. Across from the WalMart. Great to get food/ beer, but was told DO NOT GO THERE AT NIGHT!!!

I remember it well...I stayed there with Evergreen while I was in the Sim. Thank god we had a car. I had to look over my shoulder enough just walking across that parking lot to the car.

I'll let you know how the Hyatt works out.
