To whom it concerns,
You are not going to be turned away if you have a few speeding tickets. You will get turned away if you have habitual moving violations. 2-3 tickets a year for several years will be an issue (your insurance is gotta be sky high). 4-5 minor tickets over a decade or more isn't going to make or break you for an interview.

From a legal standpoint, a "simple traffic ticket" is usually considered an "infraction" and not a misdemeanor. That is unless it is a ticket issued for something more than standard speeding or running a light such as reckless operation and so on. However, some states classify speeding tickets as misdemeanors (e.g. Texas, speeding is a class c misdemeanor). It varies by state.

Personally, I have no idea how airlineapps racks and stacks the individual apps for their customers. I answered yes on mine for the 2 (knock on wood) moving violations I've had in 30 plus years of driving and indicated the year and the offense (speeding and passing in a non passing zone).

Best I can say is be honest and up front.

Now I am torn on what to do with this section. in 2001 I got my very first speeding ticket marked as excessive. Went to court and paid a fine. I can not recall if it was a civil charge or a misdemeanor. I rather mark this question with a yes and explain it then it coming up later down the road. Granted I have mentioned this ticket int he traffic section, but I am still very unsure now if the possibility of a misdemeanor driving offense is on my record. I called the DMV to see if I could get a driver history dating back that far and I am SOL. So in this situation... mark it yes or no?

Thanks for the reassurance. I just have that uneasy feeling with my situation since it very well could be a traffic misdemeanor on my record without even knowing it. Last and final question, did everyone get their driving records in order to get exact dates of past tickets? I have 2 addition tickets that I got over the past 10 years and did a rough guess on dates.

I see a lot of confusion about Criminal info and Driving info section; below is a simple explanation what's expected in those two sections.


In the section about "criminal record" at the end there is (non-traffic violations only) note, Indicate only the "heavy" stuff, DO NOT INCLUDE TRAFFIC TICKETS!
Criminal would be:
Misdemeanor: petty theft, prostitution, public intoxication, simple assault, disorderly conduct, trespass, vandalism, possession of marijuana, first-time possession of certain drugs (depends on State or county), restraining orders, etc
Felony: Arson, Burglary, Computer Crime, Criminal Impersonation, Criminal Mischief, False Imprisonment, Forgery, Menacing, Perjury, Robbery, Stalking, Theft, Trespass, Cultivation of Marijuana, Unlawful Use of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Assault, Child Abuse, Criminally, Negligent Homicide, Domestic Violence, Manslaughter, Murder.

All your driving record stuff goes to "My Driving Record". This section is divided into General, Infractions, and Criminal.
General - self explanatory, your DL number, type, etc.
Minor moving violations go to (Infractions), such as: speeding tickets, unsafe passing, impending traffic flow, operating vehicle without required or broken equipment, etc.
All other more serious violations go to (Criminal), such as: Vehicular Assault, Vehicular Homicide, DUI, DWI, hit and run, reckless / unsafe driving, suspensions of license, revocation of license, etc.

If you actually get through to them with this question you will have failed the technical portion of the exam.

If you downloaded an application, don't submit it until you know United will start to process them. Historicly they have allowed updates only once every 6 months. You want the most updated application possible.
