I want my obama phone now.

You do all realize it was and is Obama's people who put this deal together. Do you think they will be on the pilot's side if you say NO?

Obama calls himself a "progressive," mind you not a politician or even the President of the United States.

Waiting for the TA.

I heard it was Bruce Springsteen and Jayz working under the guidance of President Obama who put this deal together and if we say no they will prevent us from downloading their music from ITUNES.

Seriously, I tired of all these unsubstanciated claims of help from the Obama Administration carefully and skillfully guiding us thru our negotiations. They have not done squat for us and now they got 4 more years to put their support where their mouth is.

You don't really believe $250K is going to be the cutoff for those about to absorb massive tax increases do you?

You are aware that program was the result of legislation passed by a republican controlled house and senate in 1996.

The program as it exists today was created over a decade ago by an act of Congress, the Telecommunications Act of 1996. A version of the Lifeline program was already in operation as far back as the early 1980s.

Actually, Universal Access came about in the 1930's but was codified in 1996.

The United MEC met today to continue its Ground School on a potential Tentative Agreement. They heard from the UAL-MEC Negotiating Committee and additional members of the JNC on Sick Leave, Leaves of Absence, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), Physical Exams, Definitions, and Workers’ Comp. The Continental and United MECs met in joint session for a briefing on Section 9 – Training.

On Thursday, the two MECs will meet in joint session to review the Scheduling Sections 5 and 20 - Hours of Service, and Allocation/Assignment/Scheduling of Flying.

Due to Communication server issues on Tuesday, last night’s MEC update is being included in this Update. There was a corruption of data in the AMES server list which did not send the update to all active pilots. It also sent the update to retired pilots, who are not normally included on the UAL Fastread list.

Here is Tuesday's MEC Update:

MEC International Code Share Committee Chairman and MEC Domestic Code Share Committee Chairman discuss Scope issues during Ground School on Tuesday.

The United MEC today was briefed on Section 1 – Scope by International Code Share Committee Chairman, Domestic Code Share Committee Chairman, and CAL-MEC Alliance Committee Chairman. The MEC also was briefed on Section 4 - Expenses, Lodging, and Transportation by Negotiating Committee Chairman and Hotel Committee Chairman.

On Wednesday, the UAL-MEC will review Definitions, Vacation, Physical Exams, Workers Compensation, and Sick Leave. Additionally, the UAL-MEC and the CAL-MEC will meet jointly to receive a briefing on Section 9 - Training.

The MEC also conducted some business both in and out of closed session.

We will continue to keep our Pilots informed of the MEC’s progress.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 05:48 AM.
