Default Compare the TA to Delta's Contract.

Dear fellow UCAL ALPA brothers and sisters:

I am a DAL captain. My brother and friends are at UAL. I have been analyzing the TA thoroughly and it truly is substandard to our contract. We at DAL want you guys to leapfrog us, to set a new bar, even if it is only DAL +1%. This TA fails miserably. How do you explain being a year behind us in pay or the miserable reserve rules? Moving reserve days off, more reserve days per month, field standby, lower guarantee, etc. You guys need to compare it to our contract, why settle for less? Vote it down and insist on getting the DAL contract nearly verboten. We at DAL support your effort to do better than this-- but you have to vote it down.

^ Thank you Sir.

For some reason, our Union does not want to do a one on one comparison with Delta.

And that is straight from Jay Pierce's mouth from the 8 Oct 12 Council 170 Union meeting when someone got up and asked him if there would a straight comparison PowerPoint Presentation with Della for us to look at.

I'll get a pic comparison of the pay rates at least for everyone so we can see that we r a year behind every year

That is interesting that there will be no direct comparison to DAL. Part of our issue was that SWA and UPS/FDX were not really our peer group, but you guys are, and vice versa. There is alot buried in the TA besides payrates that don't cut it. Is ALPA just tired of negotiating?

Jamie Baker from JP Morgan...."Baker said the United wages appeared similar but one year behind those recently negotiated by Delta Air Lines Inc.

Yeah, some of your work rules remind me of the old regional days in terms of the abuse they can dole out. More work for less pay is never a good thing... From what I've read as an outsider, it looks pretty ugly

I love that quote.

To answer your question, yes. ALPA appears tired of negotiating. My opinion is that it is the s-UA ALPA that is tired of negotiating--with the s-CO ALPA.

It boils down to money and scope. s-UA ALPA thought it was good enough. All the rest would be too much effort to get from the s-CO side, and that it would put the money and scope in jeopardy. Oh, plus, if this contract isn't ratified by 12/15/12, some of the greybeards wouldn't get their retro/lump sum check before they get their obligatory gold pin and water cannon salute. So...work rules be damned. Same with those pesky 1999-2001 s-UA furloughees, with their seniority-grabbing mittens.*

And here we are.

* just my opinion!

Someone needs to do it for them, then. Powerpoint is ok but can't be copied and left in crewrooms, cockpits, left at the roadshow/LEC meetings, etc. Do one PPS version and one in PDF, make a 1 page summary of bullet points for quick reading, longer ones for those who want detailed reasons why.

Make it so.

There is a 180 plus page comparison of the major points of the JCBA to DAL, FDX, UPS, HAW, AA, and more on the Union website. It point out a lot of flaws as well as highlights.
