Q: Why did L-CAL change the 2013 bid months and does this change the number of 31-day months with 13 days off available to me?
A: First, if you are a reserve pilot you will not have a reduced number of 13-day off months if the TA ratifies (you are due none under Contract ’02). Recently CAL Flight Ops management announced a change in the 2013 bid months. This change was made to align the L-CAL and L-UAL bid months. Because the Dec. 2012 bid month ends Dec. 29 at L-UAL and Dec. 31 at L-CAL, during Jan. and Feb. 2013 L-UAL will conduct 31-day bid months and L-CAL will conduct 30-day bid months to account for the two-day difference. By doing this, the two companies align bid months starting May 1, 2013 – the beginning of the vacation year as defined in the United Pilot Agreement
