Yes, I noticed it and knew this would happen as soon as we went to paying for work done instead of being advanced for work not yet performed.

Not really a d**k sandwich. You are going to be paid a portion in advance until the changeover and then you will be paid on the 1st for half your guarantee from the previous month...a month where you already got a portion paid. Essentially there would be a two week overlap of extra pay (to put it simply) that needs to be returned. They are opting to do it over a 6 month period according to the LOA vs taking it all out at once. You essentially pay back your advance now...all at once...in the middle of the next month.

Personally never liked getting paid in advance. Much prefer getting half my guarantee for the previous month on the 1st and then all the clean up from that previous month on the 16th.

The way CAL runs pay is just ahead, slightly, from an abacus. They couldn't get organized enough to actually pay for work done so they apparently just gave up and bought themselves two weeks each month to figure it out by using the advance system. I had a tough time getting my bank to understand this during a refi last year. It looked like my pay was being docked at every mid-month paycheck to pay back a company loan or alimony or court-ordered settlement or something. They also make us pay claim a lot of little things using an arcane DOS-based system that they can perfectly well figure out themselves which they know increases their bottom line at pilot expense because we don't have time, don't understand, or just give up. Like sending in a rebate. This is our money they withhold until we say we want it. Crazy. We earned it, figure it out and pay it. I don't really blame the pay folks as they're understaffed just like every other department at CAL. No one has time to effectively run anything, they just put out fires.

Where was I, oh yea, I agree with EWRflyr.

I'll be the first to admit the Cal pay system is still in the dark ages, and all things being equal I'd prefer the new method. But that doesn't change the fact that under this conversion plan, we each have to pay back one month's advance. For me, that is a $3000 loss in take home pay for calendar year 2013.

Yes, it appears the CCS dates are not what many expected. CAL Pay roll is now being overridden by some supervisor with dates provided by UAL. The UAL JNC was notified, and surprised to hear this. They are looking at this issue right now, and will get back to us soon.

I did hear the same thing.... They might have got some bogus info... This Sunday I was told it should be corrected.... Trust but verify?...

Thanks. But as a Legacy United guy - I don't have access to that.

Guess I'll just have to do the math when the paycheck comes and trust them till it does.
