How about 1/2 the bid for each pilot group? How about a temporary list based on relative seniority using the 2010 snapshot? How about delaying the bid until at least September when the SLI is expected to be completed? Anything is better than shutting out more than half the United pilots from a vacancy bid now that we are operating under one unified contract.
Delaying the bid and violating the current CAL CBA, great idea that only benefits the UAL side of the house. You want us to stand up for the contract but expect us to roll on our back ********** when it works for UAL pilots. Shutting out half of the UAL guys who think those Captain seats belong to them? Lets face it, it's the Captain seats you want. You're not going to bid 737/FO/CLE are you?(sorry CLE guys) Taking something that's not yours...sounds scabish. and by the way this bid moved a lot of your UAL brethren back to their homes, LAX, DEN, ORD etc.. I don't see UALALPA racing to help us with crew meal implementation or the Order to Fly's being issued like candy from flight ops. What I do see is a lot of grievances against CAL from the "United" pilots. The seniority is owned by ALPA, until it's presented to company we are TWO groups. Last I read your merger committee walked out of mediation(not that I expected the list would be resolved at that level). As for biding each others flying, will not and CANNOT happen logistically till combined CMS. You can't take a UAL pilot and plug him into CMS on the CAL side with no combined seniority list. Where on the list is he to go? If I want to bid on UAL flying? Plug me into Skynet?? no way. So is the CAL side to suffer yet another long miserable summer because UAL wants the flying with no seniority list? We have hired over 400 UAL guys, guess what? We're still woefully short for the summer schedule. Think management cares? nope. VJM, 90+ hrs, rolled days etc... here we are again. One last thing. You can spare me the "JP is the Antichrist"(he may be the Antichrist but he's our Antichrist), "right sizing" and "virtual merger". |

Copy that... we are talking about the culture gap.... what else does CAL bring to table that would be attractive to the UAL pilots.... you mentioned work your tail off for a bigger W2.
I mentioned good MX/low MELS on the CAL side... What else? |

We most certainly are NOT all United pilots. While that's a cool thing to say there are great inequities between the two subsidiaries. The CAL side of the house waits nearly 18 months for FULL implementation of the CBA. You guys got your pay rates and basically keep your current contract. The work rules for the combined CMS is and will be a major hurdle for the company, you'll feel the pain the day that happens. guaranteed.

Easy solution, fence your cherry EWR, CLE and IAH CA slots and our WB Fleet slots. Done. If your own CAL pilots don't want your almighty RSV Capt bids and they have to go super junior...pls explain why we'd kill for them.
Pass that on to your Antichrist when you Oblamea United pilots for your CBA implementation issues. uAL will be stagnant for another 10 years. Enjoy your wide bodies paying the same as 757 and 73(763, very close). Enjoy the retirement of the whale and the other ancient airplanes. Don't think this is what u really want. |

This is why the cultural gap, however large, will be pushed together to make us a pilot group. Now, how we act as a pilot group or not will be the tale for the years to come.

Certainly management saw that with two pilot groups and two different contracts, that the UAL contract was overwhelmingly more expensive because of the vastly superior work rules, and the CAL side was much cheaper.

We can go brass knuckles to who deserves more and etc..., courtesy of mgmt and this career. I'm not going to do the dance and go too low. You needed one contract for your sake according to your logic. I was doing fine on my side. I would hold CA next bid and have a good QOL on this bid. Why would I care about a combined contract? |
