hello everyone,

Well I know some are asking about calls and interviews. My story seems to be a little bit different then everyone else. I just applied two weeks ago, no joke (and no I am not somone's kid). I did not receive an email, just a call one day to verify my information was correct. I fessed up and said I assumed it would be a while so I had only updated my current experience (I have been at my current job since 07, I last updated on airline apps in 09) so my address was wrong and some of my flight times. The person on the phone simply asked me to update the information and to expect an email. I updated on Sunday (the phone call was on Thursday, 6/6, and I am on reserve so I flew in the tropical storm over the weekend out of JFK). Got the email yesterday (6/10) to do the Hogan test (on the phone call they said about a week to 10 days for a phone call to set up interview after Hogan test). I got a call today, 6/11, for an interview next week. This has been an unbelievably fast process so far......I have no idea if they are hiring into classes this summer or if they are hiring for a pool after the SLI. I talked with a couple of friends who work there and said no hiring until SLI and UAL furloughs have a chance bid on vacancy's to come back. I will let everyone know.

Anyone know how long the furloughs have until they have to make a choice? Just wondering so I can do a little bit of financial planning if this all works out.

I have just over 9300 hours, 4 years instructing, 2 years corporate, 3 years regional, 6 years at a New York based airline. Currently a captain at that airline.

I say wait for the merger or buyout of your NY based airline, you might fare better than as a new hire in this joint!
A new merger policy is evolving, Captains with Captains etc. as a Captain already, you might be better of with an integration.!

Good luck! Not a cliche that they want to hire you. Make sure you verify everything on your app because you will sign a copy before interview. A neat logbook and/or a spreadsheet breakout also helps as interviewers review app and logbook before you sit down. Straightforward interview, straightforward sim/SBI, sensible dinner at Denver airport to start a week's wait for call.
