A good friend of mine is just retired from the USAF and is applying to UAL. What are the 'currency' requirements to stay competitive? IOW, how long can he wait around without getting a flying job?

I don't know if this info helps you but I commute from LAX and IAH is way easier of a commute. Also, the Crashpad situation in IAH is nicer. With the 73's growing movement will probably be better, but since the bus guys are all senior they are jumping off quick to other stuff including laterals to the 73 for better QOL. It's all a guessing game at this point. Also, LAX bus flying is shrinking a little.
