Is there anyone who has sim time with Emerald Coast the week of Nov. 4th that might be willing to split time? ECI requires a 2 hour minimum. Not even sure if they would be amenable, but thought I'd see if anyone out there wanted to reduce costs first. Then I'll propose it with ECI... In lieu of that scenario, anyone got any other ideas for 737 sim prep?

Crewpilottraining in Dallas at SWA sim building. Lots of folks used them for prep. Good luck!

Yep. There are a couple L-UAL pilots that don't have 4 year degrees.

I am surprised at that.....but you did say a couple (2)? If they do not have a Degree I bet they had a lot of flight time (10,000+)

CAL seems to have a lot of guys without it. More than UAL. Of course we didn't have a "flow through" at UAL.

Either way does it matter at this point?

Snarge 10-27-2013 08:00 AM

No doubt exceptions to the rule......

CAL also hired with less than 1000PIC turbine.... for a reason...

Guys want to know if they can be competitive without a degree or if they should focus on SWA, JB and VA......

Dave Fitzgerald 10-27-2013 10:06 AM

I would say, at least for now, probably no one hired wo a 4 year degree. Too many qualified with it. However, that may change quickly as the pool of qualified applicants dries up quickly. A year to get through that?

Word is 11k apps on file, what % are "qualified" is anyone's guess.

And you got to figure all 11,000 of those applicants are also applying to AA, DAL, USA, Fedx, UPS, and many to regionals if military. Sliced up that many ways, maybe there will be a pilot shortage.

Viperstick 10-27-2013 11:30 AM

Highly recommend doing sim prep. FTI gives two hours vs. one, some sim IPs are former UAL Capts (with connections on the inside), . Both the sim prep IP & interview sim IP said the guys who show up without prep stand out as unprepared.

ECI won't let you split it, or for anyone to sit in.

I've heard HPA in Dallas does 1 hour blocks of sim prep at around $500 per hour...and you can split the costs with someone else in the seat.

Not the "inside track" with FTI, but better than no prep at all.

Thanks. They're still looking for instructors and I may have found some time at FTI as well.

Thanks. If FTI doesn't work out, I'll keep it in mind!

Last week's interviewees are being called with offers... the word now is late Feb.

Viperstick 11-01-2013 10:00 PM

Buddy of mine just called for an interview Wednesday (initial phone interview/Hogan testing accomplished the same day). Interview date: 18 November.

fandango 11-01-2013 11:50 PM

regret..

After I got the phone check, and link for the hogan test, I did it right away instead of taking my time, reading it over and getting a good nights sleep prior to testing....i think i shot my self in the foot by rushing....no follow up for interview .....I really looked forward to the chance and I blew it.....

Lesson learned.

You mean you never heard back, or they told you you won't be interviewed? I've heard it can take a few days to get called to set up an interview after the hogan.

CSLewis 11-02-2013 11:07 AM

Related to the above, does anyone know what happens if you don't make it past the Hogan Assessment? Email? Phone call? Nothing?

From what I understand, you get the same thanks but no thanks email that follows an unsuccessful interview.

Great organization? Pass that pipe and give me a toke...

fandango 11-02-2013 03:59 PM

thanks!

I didn't realize there would be a tbnt email if I was finished....still hope, I guess then. I know it can take a few days, but its approaching 2 weeks after hogan...what ever is meant to be, will be...good luck guys, and thanks.

Has anyone that got a call for an offer received the follow up email with the official offer?

Viperstick 11-04-2013 09:33 AM

Anyone from mid-late September (weeks of the 16th & 23rd) gotten a call for a class? Trying to get a feel for where the cut line is for the 3, 10, & 14 December classes.

Thanks!

SuperTug 11-06-2013 02:33 PM

Timeframes

Anyone have any updated Timeframes for initial call/hogan/interview? I received the initial call last Monday the hogan email this Monday morning and took it shortly after. Now waiting on the phone call or email.

BaskingShark 11-06-2013 07:36 PM

Hey SuperTug,

My timeframe was as follows...initial call came in, returned call and received the link for the Hogan test...took it 3 day later, then the very next day got a call back, but missed it (Friday) so I could not talk to anyone until the following Monday morning...was told then, that they were setting up interviews for the week of Oct 22-25th, which was about 18 days out...interviewed that week, and got a phone call EXACTLY one week later that I got the job. Class possibly late February...hope this helps. The waiting between each step is the hard part.

Also very similar to my experience. I received the initial screening call on Oct 2nd. Later that day received the email link for the Hogan. I took it a couple of days later so I could be uninterrupted. A few days passed and a different person emailed telling me that she wanted to schedule the interview / sim eval. At that time she had slots for Oct 22, 23 and the last week of Oct.
I interviewed and it was 10 days later (the following Friday) that I was called with the good news. Indeed the waiting is tough. Hang in there.
The whole process is a class act in my opinion. Nothing tricky just wanting to get to know you. A late Feb class as well.

Best of luck.

Any truth to the rumor I heard that United "flushes" your app from their stack if your First Class medical is more than 6 months old?

flybynuts 11-08-2013 10:02 AM

Not true at all! When it comes time to pull candidates for interviews you will be skipped because you are not current. All applications should be updated at a minimum every six months and your 1st class medical up to date. No apps are flushed except when the person responds with remove my from the list due to xyz...

So if a candidate is in the short stack to be called but does not have a 1st class done within the last 6 months he will not be contacted until the next medical is done correct? When the 1st class is updated and current would that candidate immediately be shown in the system to be called?

Sounds like I need to get a new one tomorrow! I'm at 6 months and 2 weeks.

If the app had been pulled, what kind of timeline is realistic for a call after the medical has been updated?

I guess I'm mistaken. I thought the First Class medical is good for a year for those under 40.

flybynuts 11-08-2013 11:54 AM

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Application should be updated every six months. Your medical should be current. If you are under 40 then the annual class one is current. Over 40 every six months.

Basically keep your application data updated, no longer than every 6 months and medical current for your appropriate age. If you had expired or out of date info and was passed for the candidate selection don't worry. Once you update your information the next candidate selection will include you. Example, you were #100 on the applicant list. Based on needs we wanted 100 to call for December. Now let's assume you had not updated your data or medical. You would be skipped and we would go to the next candidate on the list. Your spot will not disappear. If you then update your data and/or get a current medical then the next round of selection will have you back on the list and at the top. If you don't update then you will continually be skipped until you do.

PS update your data with any and everybody you apply to at least every six months. I recommend every 2-3 months and let nothing appear to expire on applications.

Pancake 11-08-2013 12:07 PM

Thanks for the great info!

SUX4U 11-08-2013 02:48 PM

Thanks for clarifying Flyby. Just curious if you can also comment on how the supposed short list over there works that I have heard of. If what I understand is true, there is several hundred apps that are sorted into the list from the 11,000 or so total apps and its just a matter of time for the call to reach them. If this is true, once one enters into the short list is it completely random who gets selected from that list or is it all in sequence from who was sorted into the list first?

Example, a candidate is placed into short list status in September. Another candidate is placed into the list in November. Can the applicant in Nov get called before the candidate from September or will he be sequenced in order of entering the list?

I am not sure if any of the above is a part of the actual selection process. It is simply what a few friends in the know seem to be saying. If it is true, I am just trying to find out if there is any sequence to getting called from that list or if possibly dozens if not hundreds of other applicants can enter that same list later than you and get called before hand.

Thanks for any insight!

Yes, you are issued a score regardless of which list you are in (short or long.) They call from the top of both lists somewhat equally, so if you made it to the short list somehow (meet & greet or job fair) but still have a low score (quals) you will be bypassed by people with higher score who were added after you - until you eventually become more competitive in your list.
