In fact, you're not. You need one issued in the last 6 months for the interview.

I was saying the application software doesn't differentiate between age 40. Technically you could be over 40 with an 11 month old class 1 physical and the software will not flush you out of active applications.

Otherwise you are correct, the FAA does differentiate.

Well the interview packet said 6 months....soooo TRUE:)

Stud7094 09-26-2013 11:46 AM

The paperwork that united says to bring specifically tells you to bring a 1st class within the previous 6 months...even though it's still a first class united wants one within 6

I am speaking purely to getting an interview. If you are under 40 you do not need to get a first class every 6 months to get the interview or to be hired at UAL. Your medical has to be valid. Capiche?

Interviewed on the 14th. I had a document issue that popped up during my interview and one of the evaluators went way above and beyond in helping me with it. He ended up calling me with the good news and said CV will be in contact soon with specifics.....Was told to expect a class date around January.

Roper92 09-26-2013 12:16 PM

So as far as updating your app, 1st class is good past 6 months, but show up to the interview with a 1st class within 6 months?

Congrats on being hired!

Question though.... You interviewed on a Saturday?

Thank you Sir! Lets see what they have to offer. I have heard great things about them

NYBlue 09-27-2013 08:53 PM

I've heard of a bunch of guys getting their degree from Thomas Edison. It's legit. You get credits for all your ratings.

Are you looking for an interview prep 737 course?

How much does a "meet and greet" help with getting a interview?

Substantially...if the Chief writes you a letter after the M&G.

DaMnad 09-28-2013 04:30 AM

I just finished a week at the training center in DEN. I spoke with an interview Capt. I know from the line and 1 of the sim evaluators, interviews are going strong. There was a steady line of interviewees coming and going.

The furlough recall also just finished for the UAL side and 96 guys took class dates (Many of those have finished class), that leaves open spaces for the classes thru the rest of this year and 100's to be hired before the summer.

Good luck!

One small clarification. ~96 accepted recall during the last round but less than 50 have been assigned into the remaining classes this year as the remainder immediately went on MIL leave. And yes, that means there will be new-hires in every single class unless more furloughed pilots decide to return.

DaMnad 09-28-2013 05:10 AM

To clarify even further, 96 (Total out of over 1400) took recall, 49 since sli, approx. 600 took the offer to fly at CAL, now effectively recalled, 100's more on MIL LV (Could come back any time, as could the rest of the guys that bypassed-approx 500.) Bottom line, probably 400-500 more to hire prior to summer.

Awesome synopsis.

Thanks.

What is the monthly training capacity? I'm guessing that most of the new hires in Houston are 73/75/76 types. CV sent my job offer paperwork and made mention of airbus as an option. What is the likelyhood of that? Where are they based?

Airbus is certainly a possibility going forward. There were unfilled vacancies in IAH and JFK on the last LUAL equipment bid prior to SLI and I strongly suspect the same will occur with the current open bid. Reports indicate that the Airbus fleet is increasing staffing for an anticipated increase in training going forward.

The Airbus bases are currently IAD (includes DCA), JFK (inc. LGA), ORD, DEN, SFO (inc. SJC), IAH, and LAX.

What is the latest with the interviews and sim evals? How is Emerald Coast for sim prep? I can't seem to get them to call me back!?

How long is it taking from the end of the interview/eval until you get the good/bad call?

Thanks! Congrats to those of you recently joining the ranks! Exciting.
