May have been but a lot of UAL guys transfered to the former CAL side of the fence. The fence only went one way though because none of the UAL guys at the former CAL side were alowed to bid any of the above vancancies. All the Uhires (furloughees) were seat locked.
What? Where is this information from? We have been able to bid away from our initial seats as uhires since day one. No seat lock. |

Also, I believe there might be some uhires thant the lock expired. Could be wrong. |

It doesn't make sense that a new hire can get a IAD base, but a guy that lives there that never had that option of airplane or base before is limited because of a training freeze. |

Nope. In the contract (old and new). However it is an equipment lock with some caveats.
Also, I believe there might be some uhires thant the lock expired. Could be wrong. These openings are NEW base openings for CAL to UAL and vice versa, thus a seat lock would not apply. Did you try and bid to a new seat across the aisle? Were you unable? I'm pretty sure if you wanted to bid any of the bases that weren't available to you previously, you could do so. The only restriction was there needs to be a vacancy. Anyone on the CAL side could have bid any of these vacancies, even U-hires. There weren't hardly any 2ndary vacancies on the CAL side and won't be for some time because no one in their right mind currently in a CAL hub would bid a UAL hub and lose 50-60% seniority in base unless they were a commuter and could go home by bidding there. Take a look at those that moved and about 90% of the people moving were L-UAL moving into vacancies, most of them moving into L-CAL bases. Even U-hires, why would they bid A320 and be the junior guy on the totem pole when they can bid 737 in the same base and be at 50-80%? |
Yes I bid 320 ORD as my first choice and yes I was denied.

Yes, I'm a Uhire. I have been here a year. The Uhires were equipment lock so they were not allowed to bid any 320 slots as it was considered same pay equipment. I should correct myself though. Uhires were allowed to bid former UAL 400,777,76T equipment (because that was an increase in pay.) The only former UAL equipment that we were frozen out of was the 320. Also, for the record, I'm on the Guppy.
