Bases and Seats...

2 trips since Nov 1st. Reserve by choice for part of that time. Forced to reserve as the 76T category winded down at DCA..
Spent more time at TK than on the road (2 landings classes and a CQMV/LOE). 756 transition training at the end of the month.
Bidding back to a line next month. I'm around 60% seniority at DCA.
Global reserve while living in base is a very nice pace. I've commuted across the country to sit reserve and hated every second of it.

Perhaps, but some locals get enough unused short calls that they exceed 76 hours. At the end of the day you can only apply so much lip stick on a pig. Commuting to reserve is always inherently problematic even on a WB.

But at least they aren't the same clowns who let the FSB nose into the tent because "they will never use it".

Along with what's already said, scheduling gurus can chime in, but if you find yourself with a block of 6 reserve days, you are effectively released at 0000 on day 6 due to the 30/168 look back. If you did nothing but check your schedule as required to at 1800 local base time on your last day off before the block of ON days (did not agressive pick-up before 1800LBT), did not have a 30 hour layover on a trip during the 6 days on, and are on long call for day 6, you're a pumpkin at 0000 if not assigned anything. They can't give you the 12 hour notice required to be able to start an FDP at 1200LBT on day 6. Good to know if you're a commuter...

True, but odd. Have to answer the phone only to say "unable." Of course they can always call you at midnight to assign short call at 1000, then call at 1000 and ask you if you can do a less-than two hour show. You don't have to accept less than 2.5 hour show, but it would be legal if the pilot showed before noon.

Wrong, it says you must show a 30 hour break PRIOR to the start of your duty period. That being said they most likely won't use you

ETA: Should also point out it's 30 hours prior to the start of a FDP or reserve duty, meaning short call.
