Why? We all can easily individually check wx, notams, and flight plan, and arriving in the airplane 60-45 minutes prior to push is plenty of time to brief, introduce yourself, set the tone / establish CRM and discuss fuel load etc., anything else is overkill.
All the other stuff is a throwback to the old days, things change, adapt. :-). I usually look over the flight plan and weather in my hotel two hours prior to show, no need for a group hug in the weather room.

I don't do company work on my time. If you want to do that, go for it.

A professional briefing is not a "group hug". Its how professionals fly airplanes.

Your correct, but my point is we have plenty of time to brief as is, in the airplane. PS, professionals show up prepared, even if it requires logging on a computer for ten minutes on their own time, that's what's being a professional is about.....

Uhhh...those 10 minutes are mine. The company shortened the report time for middle of the trip days. If you count, it takes up to 4 different computer sign ons to flight plan. I can usually count on Sabre computers locking up at least twice--after trying 3 different computers in the first place.

Most times, I can't even finish printing flight plans until 15 minutes into the duty day. Flight plan for maybe, 10 minutes if there aren't any questions for dispatch or MX. If we have to bump the fuel, plan on another 10 minutes. That leaves less than 20 minutes to get to the plane and pre-flight. I've had a bunch of gate agents lately want to close the door 15 minutes prior, and I've only been in the seat for 2-3 minutes. They are not happy. Talk to Jeff about the report times.

If the company doesn't want to pay me to be there earlier, that's fine with me. As stated earlier, I don't do company work on my time. That is time negotiated by my union. If the company won't pay me, I don't work. That's not being unprofessional, it's called a job!

True. And there's likely to be a lot more of this as the LUAL 75 fleet winds down.

That's only if the pilots refuse to bid off the fleet and are senior enough to avoid the bat. The company wants to manage through attrition and this bat process is certainly in their favor.

I think the issue is tables. CAL was too scab cheap to pay for briefing tables, chairs and space... So the blacks just packed into the WPAs..... it's like a regional airline.... with Triples.

Scabs: We'd like tables, maybe, if its ok, to do our long haul briefings. Please?
CAL: Get to work biotch, be grateful for what you got.
Scabs: Yes sir! Can I shine your shoes please sir?
