Lower numbers (third digit) are better.

UA Employees using vacation passes are SA0V and employees using regular passes are SA1P. Everybody else (retirees, offline, buddies, etc) are stacked in lower categories.

Is there a 4 digit boarding code that signifies someone is listed for the flight deck jump?

FYI, we also get an employee discount on confirmed seat tix. Cant recall what the program name is... but it helped us recently. 3 round trip tix iad-smf were $950 vs $1300 on priceline etc. The discount varies, but it is a confirmed seat with added benies...ie free bags

I will add my personal observation about nonrev benefits: between the seniority-based priority and aggressive overselling of barely-suitable aircraft for a particular flight segment, the benefits amount to very little as compared to other airlines (AA is one, but it could change post-merger). If you are a new hire, for example, you will pretty much be just hoping for a jumpseat.

United also seems to have a policy of upgrading almost every paying passenger to first class before putting a nonrev there. AA is much less liberal with its policy, as a counterpoint.

It is really sad that we are jumping up and down happy, to get a discount on positive space seats. It wasn't that long ago none of us would even consider buying tickets on our own airline.

Travel benefit? Yeah right.

Dave, couldn't agree more...and wasnt jumping up and down when i pulled the trigger on 950 bones! The biggest hit to nrsa travel in recent years has been the give away of FC international as well!

If you want to hang out in airline lounges, get the Priority Pass Prestige Membership for $399/yr. It gets you unlimited access to the United Club everywhere and a whole lot of other lounges.

Does anyone know if you can give Vacation passes to eligible pass riders? i.e. In-laws, brother, sister?

It depends.

It is all explained on the Travel page of FlyingTogether and will vary with the type of pass rider (i.e. immediate family vs extended family vs buddy) along with the priority (accompanied vs unaccompanied).

Just remember---passes are something you give to people you don't like in this era of high load factors.
