Bill Boeing.
Aviation Week and Space Technology also calls it a guppy.

Goodbye to the 737 'Guppy'

But they wouldn't know anything....

My Uncle who retired from United with 34 years is Laughing his a$$ off reading this forum over my shoulder. He was there for the PanAm asset purchase. He made it clear that the pilots of that time called the B747-100 and 200 the Whale and the B747SP the Guppy.

He was in fact there for the B737 introduction and they called it then the FLUF.

He also has some interesting comments about Mid 90's new hires. Although nothing that everyone didn't already know that doesn't live under the mushroom of Mother United.

He still carries a picture of him walking a picket Line.

Interesting and of course I'm sure he commented on the mid 90's hires at CAL. You know the ones, the guys and girls who had been turned down everywhere else.

Privateer,

It's "See u on duh line butty!" you wouldn't want the grammar police coming down on you.

Mid 90's new hires? I'm still high on some organic shrooms so would you please ask Uncle Tom to explain?

Obviously the Yak didn't make the cut in the mid 90's so he he feels the need to rationalize his failure.

No doubt. Mid 90's was competitive and trying to digest what demographic has Uncle Tom's knickers in a wad.
