What's a zip tie?

Has a zipper built in.... instead of a clip on or traditional knot, when the facade knot is pulled up to the collar a zipper closes and holds the tie in place... basically easy on/off....

That is more than I wanted to type on zip ties.

I'm a a Luddite and I've been wearing clip-ons forever. They provide me with all the speed I need to get that thing off my neck (and back on, unfortunately).

Thanks for the explanation.

Something my 12 yo wears.

Well thank you Snarge. The option was not there the last time I gave the matter attention. This board can really be a swell thing once in a blue moon. Just for this, I'll happily lobby for a return to legacy UAL wings in the future.

Not saying U-culture says that... we were provided two ties... I was told the company wasn't going to allow zip ties as one of the provided options... but its there... I was provided one tie and one pair of pants at CAL... you can see why these guys go to Penny's. But what do you expect working for a glorified regional....

I haven't seen any CAL guys in the UAL Bomber Jacket Regional airline pilot look... I did see a U guy at an outdoor mall with his jacket and wings on... very cheesy.

However, most of the CAL guys will go to Burlington Coat Factory, Goodwill or their closet and find a black leather... whatever jacket... have already seen that...

Hey Snarge, kiss my grits. Did they only give you one tie and one pair of pants instead of two because they needed the extra material to go over your belly?

Is the general opinion of the new uniform good or bad? From my observation at my UAL buddies place the other night I was pretty let down to see the new vs old, especially when it comes to the wings. Well that was until I saw the thick gold bars matched up with the thin tie pin stripes that don't even match in color.

Other than the tie and the terrible epaulets I'm getting my clothes elsewhere. Perry Ellis or Ralph Lauren pants, 100% cotton shirts only, and I'll wear a black leather jacket in place of the coat so that I don't have to wear the hat, since the hat is only required with the coat. The leather jacket is an alternative to the coat, so leather jacket = no hat.

I think my new hat must have been lost in the mail.....

Coto Pilot 12-03-2013 10:20 AM

I have the leather coat, Ralph Lauren navy pants, shirts from "A Cut Above". I will wear the tie and epaulets provided by the company.
