Half empty? You give me too much credit!

I don't see how fiscal calamities, mergers and wars compare with guys padding their nests. Sorry if my take on things UAL offends you. I'm just making an observation and showing the other side of the coin that is reality for about 2000 guys.

One could also argue, why enable their incompetence? Granted it wasn't this management, but they used the courts to steal from us and decimate our contracts. They told us the pensions were safe as they positioned themselves to eliminate them. Then, they passed out millions in bonuses. Then they took us to court and got a TRO.

I guess 14 years of bumps, a furlough and 70 hour paychecks has clouded my rose colored glasses.

Cheers.

Speaking of cheers, my glass is almost empty. Time to reload.

You can't have it both ways without acknowledging that its manpower negative overall. They get by with fewer bodies.
Bingo! I think we are drinking the same thing….Which BTW is almost empty.

Default Stakes raised, instant 200%

"If you are a B737 Captain (except Guam) who does a straight pickup after the issuance of this message of a full trip pairing from open time that originates Dec 22-24, that pickup will be treated as a Voluntary Junior Manning (VJM) event and you will be paid at 200% of your normal hourly rate."

Then take it out of the contract...until that happens, this discussion is moot.

I agree with you on this one (which in itself is concerning to me). One area I have a hard time with is when certain subUAL guys continue to shout about things we do that reduce captain positions yet they won't admit that it was a mistake to let all the instructor positions in the school house go to FO positions. In the process we gave up years and years of hard fought contract gains in that area and sliced a ton of captain positions off the books simply because a few though our instructor made too much money.

You can't chop this major chunk of Captain positions off the books without admitting it has the same negative effect.

They have Captains in the schoolhouse. They are called "Standards Captains" and have always been Captain positions.

Nice try.

Totally agree^^^^ next step will be like nwa/Delta and hire 500 hr flight instructors for 40k a year, not on the senority list.

More slop for the hogs! This, along with the blatant violation of the ISL Award, means no need for vacancies that the LUAL pilots could bid.

Hats on! All aboard the unity train.
