That's a valid point about running back to the judge. In a sense, you can't fault many LUAL pilots, since it seems like they were constantly beaten down by unethical and immoral management looking for every loophole to cover their inability to successfully manage.
Sadly, it may take years to undo the damage that past (and current) management has done. That process could speed up though with new and effective leadership.

--"This is exactly why our careers will always be in a downward spiral. Throw some extra money and watch the wolves eat their own.
How about flying your trips..and enjoy your time off. Never heard anybody's last words being "I wish I would have worked more" But go chase that dollar. Then the next contract the senior guys will sell out the junior for some more $ and the spiral continues.
If you can't live on 100 grand a year when the poverty line is 27 thousand "family of 4" then you have bigger problems.
But go ahead strap on your kneepads and pick up that trip. Help the company out. I would expect nothing less from this combined bunch of suckups. Have fun at the company christmas party too. Be sure to remind everyone how awesome they are."-

There are various articles published about airline pilots and life expectancy, this is just one of many.
Retired Pilots Die Earlier Than Most, Study Says : Workplace: A global survey of fliers will look at why longevity figures for the pilots seem to be worse than for the rest of the population. - Los Angeles Times

I could care less how you guys fly, do what you want. Personally I will manage to work 85 days this year and make $200,000 in the right seat. I'm not screwing anyone or preventing anyone from upgrading. I enjoy my family, spend the vast majority of my time at home and enjoy life.
I don't care what anyone else here does, that's the secret. Stop worrying so much about what everyone else is doing, you will live longer.

It's a form of support by the most dedicated pilots for the company, and it's available only to those in the highest levels of enlightenment in new United.
After you do few of those, you are guaranty to be taken on the voyage by the mothership to the next level.

Looking at a randomly selected schedule of TP Nelson EWR 777 FO (#7590), he seems to be pretty typical with 85:50 and 19 days off for December?
85 hours x 12 months = 1020 hours annually
11 days/month x 12 months = 132 days - vacation - sick calls = 85 days?
and $200,000 / ($165/hr) = 1200+ hours.
Not saying it's not possible, but seems like it might have been a slight exaggeration. If it isn't, I guess I'm just jealous and need to bid EWR 777 as soon as I can

What's also interesting to note is that 7590 can't hold 777 anywhere on the UAL side by nearly a 1000 numbers. That might make me a little angry if I was #7590, but that's just me, I'm human and can't always control my emotions

It's a form if support for those dedicated to family, and it's available only to those who place the highest priority to to quality of life. And after you do a few of those, you are guaranteed to be appreciated by the mother of your children on your voyage on a ship, which you were able to take because your weren't sitting 33 hours in a hotel somewhere.
Taking a COLA to improve your QOL is being a management shill? Are you high? Knock yourself out. Spend as much time in uniform as possible. Lots of folks here do. SRM, pilots who have set up a home in hub crew rooms, etc. We've got one FO talking here of a $200k W2, on the other forum a CA $300k. Lots of opportunities.

It's an exaggeration... a huge one... no one can have that QOL and pay on the 777 in EWR. Not possible. DO NOT BID IT.
