are they going to show short call assignments as open pairings so if one wants to pick up a short call they can or is it all up to scheduling to convert who they want?
they re used to be a ccs screen where we could preference what time slot we prefer for short call, looks like that s gone too, so is there any way to preference a late vs early short call if converted?
any rules on how many short call conversions they do each day or can they just decide to convert everybody?
thanks

Questions abound here.
1. Understood B short call reserve still possible to bid, but not in PBS as a choice?
2. Notification of conversion from long to short call is going to occur how? When?
3. If converted to short call will ability to request a time to start be available again?
4. Impacts on aggressive pickup? 0001 default start of B reserve prevented next day aggressive pickup.
5. What exactly does FIFO mean? When you last flew? When you came on short or long or either reserve? Seniority? Check of first days on reserve in january show no rhyme or reason to who is listed higher or lower.
6. Will first or last day of reserve be converted routinely to short call? Huge impact on commuters.
Just the beginning of how to figure this out.

"20-K-6-i The Company may offer lines consisting of a Short Call assignment on each work day. These pure Short Call lines shall be awarded in seniority order only to those Reserves who have requested one."
Makes it sound like they initiate but it's completely voluntary on the pilot's part? Seems unlikely. Back to reading that section.

Good question, I would like to know that as well. I have been converted four times in less than two weeks. I haven't been used on any of the short calls.

I definitely don't understand these conversions. I was the very last long call 4+ day finishing 5 days of flying yesterday with 28.7 hours (#17). I have now been converted to short call with a 2 am phone availability. How does FIFO work? Do they randomly select short call guys?

This place is so jacked up its amazing. Skeds left a message on my phone an hour ago. I have no idea what he said. I didn't know that a human could speak that fast. So, I just spent over an hour on hold with the brain trust in skeds. I got to hear "due to the computer changeover, UAL is now in irregular operations" four different times. Meanwhile I'm trying to look at CCS to figure out what's going on. It shows nothing.
It requires me to sign in over and over even though I am on the companies iPad and have already logged in twice. According to 1800 UAL-SKED I don't appear on the reserve list tomorrow. Sweet! Unfortunately according to my awarded schedule I am.
Hows that for fine execution? How long has this merger been underway? If today and the rollout of CCS are any indications, this week is going to be an epic cluster.
The changes are stupefying.

You know what, at this point I am convinced its only going to get worse, at least for the next month with 117 and the CCS changeover. It hard to believe that anything could make Unimatic seem desirable.
This week has been an eye opener for sure. No hotels? Nothing listed on trip pairing? Self service transp to hotels? We fly, they manage. We'll be lucky if we're not in the news soon.
DAL is on the forward horizon and pulling away. AAL will soon be in the rearview with a bullet.
