No real dog in this fight, but every place I have worked at I have been happy to be there, but still tried to make it better. I do that by following the contract and holding the company to their end of the bargain.

Just out of curiosity, it sounds like your newhires are going to the 75/76 in NYC and they have to cover all three airports. What does a commuter do? Are they looking at buying a car to get between the crashpad and any of the three airports? Or is the company responsible for getting you from one to the other? What if you started your trip in one and ended in another?

I am however extremely leery of Marvin's. They tend to be over the top enthusiastic even while someone is micturating on their barbeque. Lets hope that the enthusiastics will smile like mofos for 366 days and then fight like Honey Badgers to defend the current contract and scrap for the next. The guys running the show now disregard the current one to an astonishing degree. We bend, they just shove it in further.

As for the FNG's, welcome and beers are on me.

Once again Mako you never disappoint. Seriously I would love to hav drinks with you and I would buy. I'm really starting to dig nice scotch and dirty martinis.

Can we assume that Marine time and wannabe management shills qualifies one to be a leader the FNG's will follow. Do you need to buy your own flute or will the company supply it?

I never said I was ever qualified to lead anything here. Also, I am no mgmt wannabe and not in any mgmt position.

My position is that let the new hires enjoy their hard work getting hired here. Then they will fly with great people like Mako and similar and they will follow that normal line pilot leadership. That is how we will create strength.

As for a flute...I saw a movie where someone at band camp stuck it somewhere. I will stick it there on you if you like.

I work hard to make this place better for line pilots. What do you do?

Into a frozen pint mixing glass filled with ice:

Two ounces of gin which was stored in the freezer.
1/4 oz Dry Vermouth stored in the fridge.
1/4 oz pickled Jalapeno juice from a jar of pickled peppers.

Stir and strain into a frozen up glass.

Ideally the garnish is a thin slice of fresh jalapeno pepper. It's much brighter in color than the pickled variety. It looks much much better. Additionally, it has more kick.

Right On Flybynuts! I've been with UAL nearly 28 years and while every Management that has come down the pike has tried to over-reach here and there, but if I had my choice 28 years ago, and knowing what I know now, I'd still like being part of United. Every bulletin board/forums, there is a certain group of pilots that throw cold water on anything positive but I will tell you that I have enjoyed flying with anyone of our pilots - They are all professional and highly skilled in the cockpit. The Safety record of United Airlines speaks volumes.

Not trying to rain on your parade but just what did you do to make this place better for the pilots? As a management type posting on a public forum, you do a dis-service to the United pilots. Especially, your reference to a flute and sticking it somewhere. Very weak in all circles.

Mako, where are you based? Still on the 320? I'm a new hire in EWR and hoping we can listen to some James Brown soon...
