The advice I got was to bid it ALL in the first round. So I did.
I got 4 weeks of vacation, each right after another. I'm not sure how that worked, as I thought we were supposed to only get 2 awards. Oh well, it is what it is. Hopefully I'll get something decent in the secondary with my few remaining days
Does anyone know if you can bid your annual vacation early in the monthly process like we used to?

Depending on your seniority it would be advisable to bid all 52 weeks as choices, but I think it's bad advice to try to get all of your available vacation weeks awarded in the primary cycle, unless you want just one or two blocks. By definition with how the primary cycle works, you would only be able to get at most two vacation blocks this way. Or inadvertently one if the two blocks are adjacent. For someone trying to spread vacation throughout the year more you would need to get vacation awarded in more than one bidding cycle. Sure, the good weeks will be gone after the primary cycle, maybe even during the primary cycle if you're junior, but you can still work to spread the weeks out in different months for QOL purposes.

After over three decades of vacation bidding awards this is the strangest award I have ever received. Somehow the program decided from all my choices I wanted four seven day periods all in a row, 28 days all at once.
Looking at me bid I have no idea how the algorithm did that.
I did get the two week block I wanted but the rest is not. But it's probably my fault and since it's in the heart of summer a trade will probably work out.
Personally I believe this vacation bidding program is a piece of cow's dung.
Any one in United management listening?
