LHR Hotel Hammer Attack
#11
I never stop hearing from captains I fly with how they hate the hotels we stay at. I love most of them, the long layovers are great, sometimes the ride is long to get there but you can't have it all. Usually its the guys that are old as hell (most captains) and don't care about anything other than sleep and food (i get it). For us young guys, if your in a cool city, thats half the fun about this job. I didn't become an airline pilot to sit by the airport on all my lay overs just so I save 30 min on the van ride. They need to create a star rating system and make it easy and fast to use (maybe in CCS as a pull down link) so more than just the 1%ers actually say something.

I have suggested to a few ALPO pilots that we come up with an easy to do rating system. My idea was dismissed out of hand.

No need to worry. Different hotel since the Cumberland we stay at is far from plush.

I've walked back to the Cumberland after 3 am after a killer night at the Vic numerous times and never felt the least bit threatened. Great location, safe, everything you could want to do. But "plush" is a little bit of a stretch.

2. Disburse said app among fellow pilots and have them use it.
3. Submit results to union.
4. Sell ad space on said app to restaurants and bars near layover hotels.
5. Create apps for other airline's pilot groups.
6. Profit.
7. Send me a "thank you" check for $1000 for the awesome idea I just gave you.
