We saw 50% RSV coverage on the 76T in Denver last summer. That meant about 50 Captains and 50 FOs were getting paid 15K and 10K per month to do remodeling projects around the house. Not so bad this summer, but now 25- 757s are retiring just in the second half of this year. There are big costs associated with not displacing as well. In fact, Mr. Papaleo seems to think the benefits of this displacement will far outweigh the costs, or so he says.

Are Airbus and 737 airplanes doing palletized loads now?

Nice point, I agree. In the end we have to hope that Mr. Papa lego and company are looking beyond the spreadsheet and including the impact on the pilot group and potential financial liability it will be to the company. We all want our company to succeed and it is definitely frustrating seeing money wasted as you described.

I would think boxed but not palletized. I'd bet everything is still belt loaded for those airplanes but haven't noticed or flown either the Airbus or the Uber Guppy. I'm sure they get a little extra space with the outward opening cargo door.
