No its based on interview week so guys that interviewed on the 30th with a lower SS number will get a class date before you. If you were called and given the CJO then you will be in this 24th class or the next one if guys that interviewed the same week as you are getting called.

cptslewis - I got the call to offer my class date on 2/27 - a Friday. I have an extremely low last four of my SSN for those wondering. i had no idea they used that to place people into classes. That used to be the way legacy UAL used to do class seniority before the merger, but I guess now it is done by age.

Thanks much,

I know someone who also interviewed on 1/27. I called Friday night after reading this thread and they hadn't heard yet. FWIW, their SSN is middle of the road.

Thanks FMS DR. I interviewed 1/30 and have a CJO. Guess I will wait for my call. Any idea how many interviewed the week of 1/26-1/30? 20?25?

cptslewis - I'm not sure how many interviewed that week. I only interacted with one other candidate during the process. Purely by guessing or speculation - I'd guess they interview 30/week. I'm sure you will get the call very soon - probably a 3/31 class date. Congrats on the CJO!

Does anyone know if you need a first class medical within the previous 6 months to start class? I'm under forty, so it is valid for 12 months, but I think I remember reading somewhere that I needed one within 6 months to be selected for an interview - not sure if that applies to new hires or current pilots.

No as long as it's current. It used to be within the last 6 months but not any more.

I interviewed Jan. 27th and got the CJO Feb. 4th. Was offered class on Feb. 27th for March 24th. Can't get away from my current employer (overseas) that fast so I'm in the March 31st.

You will need a first class medical within 6 months to interview, but not to start class. To start class you just need a current first class medical. Why the difference? Trying to prevent age discrimination. During the interview if they see you have a first class medical that is more than 6 months old they know you are under the age of 40. They might also infer you to be over the age of 40 if you have a newer medical. I should also add that they ask you mark out your date of birth on all documents before the interview. It is just a simple step to make sure everyone has a level playing field. Also note, it is not required to be less than 6 months old to be selected for the interview. Just needs to be less than 6 months old when you interview.
