I remember when I was a kid and the current center was being built. Dad was one of the instructors there. Ah, nostalgia...

The company was faced with liquidating the encumbered assets to pay the claim via the creditors committee or find another way fund the mechanics claim. The company chose the latter.

PS. TK = Total Konfusion

Bankruptcy claims aren't for the specific assets. The trustee gets to potentially liquidate whatever assets have value and then distribute to specific lien holders. So the mechanics can't just pick an asset, like TK, and say they get all the proceeds if that asset is liquidated.

Can you attach a copy with the appropriate part. This doesn't make sense at all.

The Mechanics Union didn't arbitrarily assign a claim to the building in bankruptcy, it was an established debt that the company owed in which they used the building as collateral. The company obviously didn't see the building to pay the claim, but it did put the mechanics in a better position to negotiate a BK settlement.

I did search it. Can't find it. More urban legend.

The announcement has been delayed due to a late additional submission from one of the three cities. Now finance, legal and real estate are going to meet and decide what to do and then have a plan by July. Den and IAH are both very respectable but the final decision is going to be based on more than just cost.
