I also picked up a fallout slot.
Interviewed 5/26 & CJO 6/3. 44.8 yrs.
I thought I knew what I wanted until the 76t closing announcement and no more 75's.
Looking for EWR or DC basing. Not sure which metal....research time....
See you all there.

In the 07July class, all 737's went to EWR and all the 320's went to DCA.

The 320 vs 737 thread has been useful. I've heard from another guy that commutes out of ORF that DCA is an easier commute and I guess he has done both. I will need to discuss with him to see why he made the switch. That might push me in one direction.

Yeah, so it really comes down to the plane mostly, I think, for me.

ORF to DCA is easier because you can drive it. We are doing a lot of hiring now so you hopefully won't be on reserve long but, if you're going to sit reserve, being able to drive it is key especially for the first year.
Can't speak much on the flying commute but if you're within a 3 hour drive to work I wouldn't even mess with an airplane commute. Some guys would kill for "only" a 3 hour drive to work.
I commuted to Newark my first few years here and there were times I'd spend a 5 day stretch just wasting time in the crash pad. I couldn't go home because I commuted by air.
Pick the driving distance base.

After talking with him, it was clear that DC was the better choice.
