Excellent Question!........crazy amounts of reserves doing absolutely nothing this month on the 756

Guy I talked with today was 7th in his silo and 57th overall and was short called. EWR 73. Sounds like it's gotten pretty bad out there.

Unfortunately that's no indication of being short staffed. Scheduling can call whomever they want and because of the opaqueness of the process it's often hard to tell if was legal. SSC and FODM can figure it out sometimes.

He asked me why they do that and I said, "because they can."

If you plan to commute to ORD, the 747 may be the best fleet. The bottom seniority is about the same, the pay is the same, and trips are mostly early afternoon departure and arrival. Very few landings available for reserves, so plan on trips to DEN for landings class.

The seasonal swing of the international 756 flying is insane. In the summer they are short everyday and SRM is rampant. There were weeks this summer where there were no reserves at all in any base.

then the fall sked hits and there are hundreds on reserve. It is even worse when the company pulls back in Jan and FEB. During those 2 months most of the INTL flying is less than daily.

They staff for the summer. Being Junior on the 756 is a roller coaster.
