Oh please, have you stepped into the Contentious Issues section? The gun debates alone would keep any John Birch society member happy, let alone the Political threads.

There are plenty of hard core right wingers to counter the "Marxists" and they opine just as freely. Those same union members speak up in "The Crew Room" section as well. There is plenty of give and take from both sides.

Of course, you are free to skip the whole shebang. I merely post this to counter your view in the hopes that the FNGs will show up and see how the other forum operates. We are at a crucial point with "The New U". We would be well served to have as much information as possible WRT what the companies motives and offers are. I think that the new unofficial "union" forum is a great conduit for that, commie warts and all.

Color me Pinko I guess. Blue collar and all.

I do agree with you about the FNG's. They do need to seek out information where it is available. We can't afford to have them kept in the dark about labor issues and we need to emphasize the importance of wearing their ALPA pin proudly.

Wait a minute, you came out with the above and responded with the stuff below.

And you wonder why you get nowhere on the other forum. You do know this forum is loaded with company shills scared of the prospects of being found out by the pilot population. You know them by the swarming they do to protect each other and turn offending discussion into a legacy argument. FBN?

Pretty strange aint it? A proud ALPA member who does not care to associate with the thug side of labor. You might want to wash out your head gear new guy and start thinking about what I am posting.

I'm on board with you Kru.

I tried the other forum once, I made a critique of then MEC "WM". Got my head bit off with language that would not be tolerated face-to-face. That is not the definition of "forum".

I see, cut and run instead of advocating your position. It doesn't matter what you say, it's what you do and being a "proud ALPA member" has nothing to do with it.

Not a new guy and my headgear is fine there slick. Your ??? like complex is showing. And, you shouldn't call the new hires FNG's and give them a little respect.

Do you show up for a street fight with a fighter or someone who's going to tuck their tail between their legs and run? The street fighter has a code of unionism, the one who runs I'm afraid, has a code of one, himself. Why else would he run to a position of perceived safety except only to protect himself.

I might completely disagree with some positions of those on the forum, but they have my respect because they are willing to take a beating and continue to fight.

it is true. plenty of alpa members crossed picket lines in 83 at uch south and in 85 at uch north. and my tie-tack wearing fo's are almost always the biggest company men when it comes to flying with head colds, waiving duty and rest limits, and rushing through airports to try and make up time lost by poor management policies. the tie-tack is to unionism as the cross is to catholicism : mostly just an empty symbol of something that used to have real meaning. just my thoughts.

Well said.

Pilots are a fairly respectful lot especially to their Captains. Pilots can go through a career without often having their views challenged in the cockpit (or at home) however off-the-wall their ideas might be.

That is not the case with forums. It is like the ultimate CRM in some ways. If you say something off the wall you are going to get numerous people who will tell you so. For confident, well-adjusted and somewhat introspective folks such feedback is welcome. For some more delicate souls an anonymous and more superficial forum like this is more their speed. To each his own.

If you want to know what is going on at United Airlines for pilots and get contractual questions answered ualpilotsforum.org is a great resource for over 20% of United pilots and its membership is growing rapidly. If you don't want to talk politics, religion, etc. stay out of the contentious issues section. Pretty simple.
