I'm guessing Alaska will be operating those Airbi for quite a while. Too many to replace, they are fairly new, and efficient. Don't know what they might do with the interiors, obviously quite different branding.

Did you know the first Airbus at VA coming off lease is in 2020, 4 years away, a N registered and US maintained Airbus, lots of airlines will be wanting those. UAL included IF the price is right.

Maybe we will trade our 65 737-700s incoming for the busses, cash, and lots of slots and gates at sfo and LAX and dare I say SEA.

Agreed. They would be great planes--even with the different engines. Most of our heavy engine maint is outsourced so different engines isn't as big of an obstacle as it used to be.

But for that exact reason, I don't think Alaska will be looking to get rid of them any time soon. Way too soon to be speculating on that. After all, still has to meet all the regulatory requirements to be approved.

Jet Blue can't be happy. Maybe JetBlue/Spirit?

Does the fact that Spirit was owned by the same holding company that currently has Frontier have any implications on a potential merger/acquisition per the DOJ, SEC, or anyone else?
