Default Quick De-Qual Question

Due to the snow storm over the next two days in Denver my recurrent sim training has been cancelled. I de-qual at the end of the month and training said they have no available slots to get me done this month. My question is: Is the re-qualification sim ride something more than the maneuvers val and a LOFT (i.e. what I was supposed to to do anyway)? Or is it a more in depth sim event?

First, call your ALPA rep and bounce it off of them to insure your bases are covered.

Second, Please email your CP or ACP and let them know in advance you will dequal. They will need to insure you get paid. You will also need to be pay protected for next months trips. That bid is "crunching" right now and will be posted in a few days.

I lost qual once for military leave. It was just an MV/LOE. Your check ride date will get re-set. You may or may not require a line check due to the lost qual. Not sure what the new FAA approved FOTPM says post merger.

"Ensure." Can't buy insurance on this.

You should be pay protected for going NQ (non qual). Just a regular mv/loe. Let them call you. Enjoy your time off.

I hope you already had a copy of your pay register and audit trail. Take another screenshot of current register and audit trail.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't too worried about pay since I'm on reserve and never break guarantee. Its all moot now since training just called and told me they found sim time on the last two days of the month

Be sure to check that the training dates meet with the contractual notification rules on number of days notice. I think I remember it's 15 days in the latest contract.

I went NQ for a PC last year and they tried to give me a PC with 5 days notice, then 10 days, it turned into about 20 days because of scheduling. Required a call to the FODM. They will tell you to go, but get the contract out and quote page and paragraph, and get an order to attend training. Then they finally complied with the contract.

"9-B-3-d. A Pilot shall be notified at least (15) days prior to the date he is scheduled for a recurrent training assignment, unless he agrees otherwise."

Agreed, enjoy your time off. Nothing in there about weather events and cancelling training. 9-B-3-d period. Go if you want, but it could easily turn into another couple of weeks off with pay.

According to Qual screen CQDL is due by 4/30.

I am halfway through it but was there something about going NQ if not done by the 24th?

I'm on a personal trip this week (no laptop or iPad) and would like to put it off a little longer.

Let's see... Per manpower planning, we need 560 more bodies by next summer (new aircraft, number doesn't include retirements). We're moving training for both our largest fleet and our newest fleet close to 1,000 miles (737 and 787 moving to Denver). We're in the process of shutting down one fleet and opening a new one (747 and A350). We're increasing the training cycles required in our largest fleet (moving from a twelve to nine month cycle on the 737). We already can't keep up with our recurrent training requirements. What could possibly go wrong?

Yep. I wonder how many meetings, consultants, and boondoggles it took to come up with this scheme?
