Used a380s is my guess. The 400 wasn't big enough! First base to be CLE.

"The addition of this advanced aircraft to our fleet will enable us to continue to offer the state-of-the-art flying experience our customers expect when traveling with us," said Gerry Laderman, United Airlines senior vice president of finance, procurement and treasurer.

Except for the pajama boys who are to scared to turn on an APU when the cabin is 120 deg....

Safety, COMFORT.....

Sorry, but from a pax perspective this is terrible news. How long will it take to get off the airplane to catch your connection if you sit in the back 10 rows? It's like the terrible 757-300 - it takes forever to disembark unless you sit near the door.

Again, the passenger is left out of the equation - but the bean counters are thrilled!!!

I recently read an article about Southwest experimenting with deplaning from the front and rear.

United did that with the Shuttle and 757's. It worked fairly well till they dropped a jetway on a 757 wing in DEN.

I'm surprised no one has thought of that before.

They did try it with two jetways and it works but it takes up a ton of space as you can imagine. I think they were doing it in Albany iirc.

They do it in Europe and it helps big time. But if that happened at SWA, what's the incentive for travelers to buy the extra "early boarding" pass that probably generates $millions? It won't happen here in the US with our old and outdated terminals and economy passengers will now suffer more with these elongated, single-aisle tubes....
