United Training Classes
#291
In my class which was on the 11th the 737 went senior and I couldn't even hold it . The bus clearly is more enjoyable to fly but way way way more flying hours on the 737 / flying choices better QOL they say on the 737 .

All other things being equal (no greater growth in one fleet/domicile), the least desirable seat in the least desired bases will have the most openings (for new hires).
#293
New hires are only offered slots that were still vacant after the 12,500 pilots senior to them bid and the company has available training capacity.
The next class could be all 737s.

FYI
Must have unfilled vacancies for new hires and returning furloughs!
8-C-8 Bulletined but unfilled First Officer vacancies and secondary vacancies may be used by the Company for the assignment of new hire pilots. This Section 8-C-8 shall not be applicable while any furloughed Pilot has not been offered recall.
7-A-2 Pilots returning to Active Service from furlough shall be assigned, in accordance with their seniority and preference, to advertised but unfilled vacancies within the system as provided in Section 8. However, a Pilot returning from voluntary furlough shall have the right to return to the Category from which he was furloughed, unless the Category no longer exists or the Pilot has insufficient seniority to hold such Category, in which case he shall be entitled to exercise displacement rights in accordance with Section 8.
Unfilled vacancies expire so ongoing needs have to be offered to line pilots first!
8-F-3-d In the event a vacancy is not filled within three (3) months of the date the award bulletin was issued, the vacancy shall be cancelled.

So over the last two classes 13 Airbii seats versus 30 guppy seats going to newhires means there probably is not much difference. I've got under a year and a half on property, and in some bases I'd be senior on the Bus, others I'd be senior on the Guppy. The last time I looked at the vacancy window before it closed, I could hold DEN 320, but not DEN 737; IAH 737, but not IAH 320. I'd be more senior on the 737 in SFO, but more senior on the bus in DCA.
Pretty much a wash.

Its more a function of fleet size. Somewhere around 160 Airbii versus almost 400 Guppies on property.

Depends on your definition of better, and also depends, somewhat, on the base you're referencing, and it varies over time. Honestly, you need to look at the trips in each domicile and each fleet and evaluate what you can / could expect to fly based on your seniority. Even that will change as manpower awning shuffles flying around.
