If that is the case the documentation they send you before you start class still says 737 training is conducted in Houston.
Welcome aboard! |

DWC, you recently interviewed right? Where did you get the added training class info? Heard anything about training classes towards end of may/beginning of june?
Thanks ~S Last class date I have seen is 2 May. |
Can anyone tell me how many people are in the new hire classes?

BK said on a webinar a while back that having a legacy referral was worth a significant amount of points towards getting the interview. When you say legacy referral, do you mean from a UAL pilot? |

Blizzue, first of all congrats!!
When you say legacy referral, do you mean from a UAL pilot? I was told by UAL ALPA to list my grandfather who worked at UAL in that section. This is different than getting a current united employee to submit a letter of recommendation. |

I joined the facebook group "United Pilot New Hire - Half Wingers"....lots of good info, to include known class dates, cheat sheets for reserves, benefits, the contract, etc.
Last class date I have seen is 2 May. Hope to get a class date soon! Cheers ~S |

I'm sorry. Which class date is this for. The one starting this week or for May 2nd? Thanks!
The first 2 words were TODAY'S DROP |

The first 2 words were TODAY'S DROP flyer, you won't find out which aircraft or bases are available to you until after you get to TK for indoc. EWR and SFO 737 are almost always available, nothing else is for sure. |

Give him a break. There is little in the thread to indicate that today's drop is in reference to the current class.

Found the answer in another post....

How often does the hiring review board meet?

I believe it's every Wednesday

A320 vs 737
Sounds like a big difference between 757 and 737 for a new hire, what about A320 and 737? Are they pretty much same type trips/rsrv ?

A320 - If you care more about comfort when flying. MUCH nicer cockpit, more limited in where it flies. 737 - If where you are flying to is more important than being comfortable while you get there. A/C is a POS but WAY better variety of flying and typically longer legs. |

737 - If where you are flying to is more important than being comfortable while you get there. A/C is a POS but WAY better variety of flying and typically longer legs. You're spot on about the variety of flying on it. Especially out of EWR. |

I'll probably get roasted for this, but most of the folks I hear complaining about the 737 never even flew it, or at least not in its current iteration.

The guppy is just fine, it does the job a vast majority of the time and it isn't that uncomfortable. Is it an Airbus? No way, but it's not like you're on a slave ship. This coming from a guy who's done 7 hour legs on it and is 6'4. I'll be more than happy to fly it again some day in the other seat.

I think you would be hard pressed to find a current United pilot that has never flown a Guppy.......outside post merger hires.

I'm a Guppy CA. It's a POS. Most people who think it's ok have never flown a capable A/C with modern systems.

I don't hear too much about Chicago in this thread. Is ORD pretty senior? How long would it take to get there?

I was hired in Sept '15 and was initially assigned DCA 737. There was a vacancy bid during second week of training and I was able to get into ORD. Only ended up actually flying 1 month in DCA. I was able to hold a line at around the 6-8 month mark from DOH in ORD. Classmates that took the A320 waited longer but only by a couple of months. They were on reserve longer too.... A little over 1.5 years in I sit at about 75% in ORD and would be between 50-60% on the coasts.
Is the 737 the most junior aircraft at ORD? If so, what is the disparity between the most junior 737 slot and most junior A320 slot? Thanks. |
