UPS -8 Rumor

They don’t know how to train them unfortunately. Not sure if Miami sim is ready, new instructors not qualified for another few months either. Not enough ipa instructors, or ioe instructors for this many guys. It’s just going to be a crazy year trying to hire this many people into the 74.

Its not the best solution, sometimes the training can be less than what one gets in-house. And yes, its costs.
The point is, if they WANTED to hire and staff 1000 in a year, there are ways to make it happen. But it costs money, more than that "free training" they are doing now.

Its called contract training. They know how. But they would have to pay an outside company to do sim training. Then all company instructors can do OE.

All available Boeing instructors that were willing to do the training have been contracted. Even though they are qualified 747 Boeing instructors, they are not qualified to do UPS 747 training. Unlike the initial training done in 2007, now the initial qual is AQP. FAA, AQPM etc. requires the Boeing instructors to complete the training footprint, observe the footprint, then be observed teaching the footprint. Only then are they qualified to instruct the qual syllabus.
Each 747 crew member trained and qualified as a line crew just increases the need for sim availability to train CQ. At some point in the near future the ANC sim will be saturated with CQ training. As such, there will likely be a need for three UPS 747 sims eventually.
But these are good problems to have...

Yes. I was told it was for the 747 flights from Asia. I was told this by a van driver (not kidding) who said customs was standing in the way because they needed time to spool up their manpower. I ran it past our scope guys and they said no plans for 74 in phl yet.
