UPS 2019 Hiring
#291
Domestic 75-
13-16 days on per 28 for a lineholder. Block of 27-79 hours.
Credit of 75-85
Guarantee is 75 hours every 28 days
Reserve is 14 on out of 28.
Midnight to noon is A Reserve.
Noon to Midnight is B Reserve. (More senior)
Most junior person holds a “Base trip line” that is not ‘week on week off’. More like a back-to-back 2 days or 4 on-3 off schedule.
On the domestic side weekends and holidays have a reduced schedule outside of peak (December 15-30)
Nothing is really “typical”.
Some fly days. Most fly nights. Many trips “sit the sort” in Louisville between around 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. before departing. Sleep rooms are provided so crew members can get some rest on that break. The IPA union fought for this and it is a huge quality of life improvement. We paid for those sleep rooms and in my humble opinion was worth it.
No PBS here. There is a chance that PBS was “great” at the airline you used to be at before coming to UPS. That is wonderful. We do NOT want PBS. When you have been here for a year or so you will see why I and many others feel the same way about PBS.

Good brief summary by 6010C.
Reserve times he mentioned are for mecca, SDF only, other bases have different shift times and report times.
We also have lines of "turn" trips on domestic fleets. No overnight involved. Generally work 3 out of 4 weeks with weekends off. Some love them, others hate them.
We already have PBS-lite. We call it VTOs and deficit restoration. Imagine where our schedules would be with PBS-max.
I had a good experience with PBS at brand XYZ, not in favor of it at UPS. Period.

OBAP
I received this response from OBAP to my request about UPS’ presence at the March job fair in LAS.
“We're waiting on confirmation from them now, so to date, they are not confirmed. We will post it on the Home page of our website when they register.”
Just FYI for anyone thinking of going.

I’ll let others answer your specific questions but wanted to clarify our domicile & fleet options.
Technically there’s no “domestic” 75/76 domicile in Ontario. Only SDF has such a domicile.
We have 4 pilot domiciles:
ANC, MIA, ONT, SDF.
The 4 domiciles are then divided into the following fleets:
ANC
- 747 (growing, primarily international)
- MD11 (shrinking, domestic and international)
MIA
- 75/76 (domestic + C & S America)
ONT
- 75/76 (domestic + Asia)
SDF
- A300 (domestic)
- MD11 (some domestic + Europe and Asia)
- 75/76 (domestic)
- 75/76Z (some domestic + Europe and Asia)
So 4 pilot domiciles and 8 ‘fleet choices’ if you will.
Of course, there’s also the not-so-secret 747 SDF domicile which is only available to our managers. ..but that’s a totally different story...
Hope this helps.
