Gun to your head, must choose right now, 7-Feb start dates with UPS and Delta. Which do you choose?! Bonus points of you include the why.

Where do you live?
Are you willing to live in one of the domiciles?

I would say easiest commute wins

Norfolk for 2 years. Then Scenic 30a (between Destin and Panama Beach) after that.

Commute: Maybe slight edge to UPS with their paid commercial position/repositioning deadheads, otherwise I know a lot of guys commute to the emerald coast for both airlines.

I’d look at health benefits: does anyone in your family need a lot of health care or anyone at risk for needing it in the future? UPS is far above Delta here.

Retirement: run the numbers for your age?

Night flying or International: I’ve posted examples recently and have a bunch on the night flying thread and ups schedules thread from a few years ago. Any day flying is almost always in difficult commutes: lots of short trips scattered across the 4 week pay period. There’s enough examples of trips and lines posted now that you should have a pretty clear idea of the details of our schedules.

Cargo vs. Pax type flying? Do you want your pain in the arse coming from terminals, passengers and FAs or from having a far easier experience but flying at night?

Future financial health and stability? Express logistics is less volatile.

Hope this helps a little.

Almost impossible to answer without inserting some sort of bias. Right now Delta is probably the better option, but that only applies to todays conditions. Those obvious change rapidly, which means tomorrow you may regret your decision or love it more. Nothing ever stays the same.

Base it off of what is best for you and your family as far as location, benefits and schedule. Flying nights is far better for my family than gone all day. Most would disagree.

Relative of mine just retired from DL after 30+ years and told me to go UPS. I feel like this is a greener grass kind of situation. Both are good.

Thats why asking such a direct question is pretty useless. You’ll either get the homers or the grass is greener crowd. Very very little in between. Instead of asking “ which one”, it’s better to narrow down your deciding factors and then try to get factual information related to those specific topics.

When I applied, I had numerous UPS pilots call me crazy for not going to DL or some other carrier. For my situation personally, UPS was an extremely easy choice and haven’t regretted it a day since. Not true for others. Have to find what works best for you with known factors and without attempting to predict the future.
