I support The Regime, but then I'm also vaxxed and therefore a Sheeple and potentially a servant of Satan, etc. That said, I think there's a Third Way, where we support and appreciate the Union, but also don't rule out the possibility that they can make mistakes. In my mind the key concept is Unity, and that requires everyone being heard. Even the people we disagree with.

With the needed scheduling and pairing construction changes that have not been attained in the past, plus the industry leading pay scales and article, catering, software implementation, retirement, travel, etc.
I believe this is the longest contract negotiations in the history of the IPA, I am not realistically expecting a contract until 2027/28. Unless there’s another “they got us on that one” contract by 2026.
I would add just the contract dates to show 27/28/forever instead of 24/25.

A point to ponder: For most of us who have been hired since 2014 (which is roughly half the group & growing) this will be the contract under which we spend the majority of our UPS careers. Let that sink in for a minute. Whatever work rule, QOL, pay, retirement, contract language, etc. improvements we are able to achieve in this negotiations cycle are what will dictate compensation and quality of life for the brunt of the majority’s time at UPS. It is absolutely imperative that we make real, lasting gains in the areas that require attention and there are many of them. This union has affected a lot of positive change over the years but that doesn’t make the EB superhuman. Count me in the crowd that believes our contract extensions were unforced errors that have denied us a whole cycle of fighting for needed change, making the upcoming fight that much more difficult. Yes, the group voted overwhelmingly for said extensions, but more often than not, the folks I fly with feel that they were backed into a corner & left with few other options. This isn’t really indicative of the “overwhelming support” some interpret it to be. We need to be prepared to dig our feet in for a long fight with UPS. We also need to be prepared to send the unequivocal message to our elected leaders that we will settle for nothing less than a truly all aspect, industry leading contract. Finally, we need to be willing to make some sacrifices during the negotiation timeframe in order to ensure our leaders have the tools necessary to win the fight. This contract is far too important for most of us to phone-it-in for the sake of getting something “soon”.

People need to stop arguing about the extensions. They’re over. People also need to stop saying the vast majority of the membership supported them. I, like many other people voted yes simply because we thought it was the better of two evils and the more important fact, the EB recommended it. I still think it was a **** sandwich. Just because 90% or so of people voted yes, doest’t mean they all thought it was some incredible Jedi mind trick we got away with.

A simple yes vote IS support. Now your reason for supporting is your own business.

I disagree. Two things can be true at once. I can think the extension is crap, but also believe that unity sends a strong message. I’m simply saying I didn’t agree with the extension, but voting no would’ve hurt the membership in the long run. I know many who share this viewpoint.
