I’ve been fumbling through the contract since ‘16 and never knew this. Learned something today. Thanks Boiler.

And you thik everyone else is entitled?

I'm not gonna speak for everyone you come across in an airport terminal, but my experience is that people will give you the same attitude you give them. I'm no ray of sunshine 24/7 but a little respect and a smile every now and then, especially for other people doing a job I'd never want to do, will get you a long way.

I understand the relationship between the union and management isn’t all that great but is it anywhere? From what I hear, browns union seems to actually have some strength and unity rather than purples union who sold us student lines…
Just thoughts I’m having about the long game.
You have been asking this same question for almost a year. You should’ve just left for a legacy by now since you’re clearly not happy here and can’t take the (very normal) heat of a negotiating cycle. At least at a legacy you’ll have 4-5 years until the next openers.

cargo guys will do anything to convince themselves their gig is better. I would rather do 4 legs a day with woke flight attendants during the hours of 7am-7pm than any of the dog **** flying cargo does from 7pm-7am with a 5 hour hub turn sit and the same duty day length. Maybe even get yourself a real meal in the terminal and not a bag of chips and popcorn for dinner. What a joke these cargo airlines are and the brainwashed pilot groups that think it’s 2005 still

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and I would argue both have pros and cons. Why does it bother you so much for someone to say they prefer cargo over pax? Gotta let it go and enjoy your new gig that is so much better. Glad you were able to move on.

Quite a bit of our flying has nothing to do with 5 hour hub turns, flying 7pm-7am, and even though our catering is no 5 star meal, it beats the **** out of most of the crap they serve in the terminal. To each his or her own though, Cargo is definitely not for everyone and either is PAX stuff.

I don’t disagree with you on the smiling part, as I myself forget to do it from time to time, but, that all works…..up to a point. People can be quite nasty. Some people can be exceptionally nasty. And these days it’s much harder to put people in their place when they’re being extremely rude since they can whip out their phone in a split second and start recording you. And once they post their vid of a pilot or airline employee on their social media, all they see is where the video began, NOT what lead up to it. That sits in the back of people’s minds. People can take a lot out of you. It affects everyone differently, but even folks with the thickest skin can snap or lash out at angry overly entitled people from time to time.

On the subject of FA’s. There is a LOT of truth to what he said. Had this conversation with numerous other pilots, and they are all in alignment with what the previous poster said. I know many captains and even FO’s that avoid FA’s like the plague once we’ve all hopped off the shuttle and head to the hotel room, myself included. They are just so damn dramatic. I cannot for the life of me understand a lot of people in that work group. Sometimes I can sense other FA’s get annoyed by other FA’s and they’re tired of their bullshxx too, and it’s not just pilots. Sometimes I desire to be around angry passengers than to be standing around overly dramatic, entitled FA’s bitXX and complain nonstop about things. They let the smallest things get to them. Many of them also are very unprofessional out and about in public and around customers. Half the stuff that flows out of their mouths could literally cost a pilot their job. Some are straight up nasty to the customers and the customer wasn’t even rude to them to start with. Recently had a FA talk really nasty to a passenger getting on the aircraft and she did it to them for no particular reason. Her tone was like “this is MY aircraft you’re getting on, now hurry up and board and shut up and quit asking questions. Just shut up and comply.” I turned around and looked at her and gave her the look of “please lose the attitude, k?” She seemed to change her tone a little after I did that, but I also get tired of that with a lot of them from time to time and I haven’t witnessed that in other industries I’ve worked in, including retail. I’ve seen people get treated better while shopping at Walmart or Kroger, and I’m not exaggerating.

A real meal in the terminal? When you have 45 minutes to get to your next flight?

Not to mention the average line at most airport restaurants is backed up almost a half football field, even on the less busy days. Then once you finally do get your food, there’s hardly anywhere to sit. Gotta go run up to the crew lounge real quick to have a decent place to sit, finally. Then, you inhale your meal, then rush to get back to gate. Lol. Quality.
