Application Question

The 'schedule an appointment with HR,' thing doesn't have any relevance for pilots. My app didn't have it but then it appeared one day-never offered any time slots. If you get lucky, the first thing you receive is a couple emails to arrange for the Hogan evaluation. A phone call comes with the interview offer, another email with a pool letter, and last a phone call for a class date.
Are you competitive? New hires are still higher time (8500+TT), have had check airman, training department, safety dept experience, etc., volunteer or contribute in their communities, and want to work for brown vs want a high paying job anywhere they can get on - that application question of why do you want to work for UPS...
Like whale said, get your buds to inquire from the inside, if not try the contact HR option, and hit up a job fair and talk to them personally. Keep diversifying your resume at the same time-that's good for every company. Best of luck.

I have learned through someone else who had this same issue, that my profile (like many others) is "locked" and therefore unable to update the information at any time. Apparently it takes a sponsor calling HR to inquire about someone's application to get it "unlocked". Why this happens is unknown, or at least it is to anyone I have talked to so far. Maybe someone else here knows?
Again, if it's a glitch in the UPS computer system, it would be disappointing. How many people that UPS would like to have work for them based on experience, have gone to work at other airlines and given up on updating paperwork?

It's difficult to understand but ups does not care. Plenty of pilots around, there is no need to make an effort to court any of them or so it seems from my view.

I would think the same thing could be said for all the airlines. It's a buyers market, and if someone falls through the cracks, there's plenty more where he/she came from.

If you find yourself frustrated by the UPS application process, please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for employment. This is life at UPS, it is the way it has always been and it is the way it will always be. Everything here is harder than it should be, nothing makes sense. There is no common sense in the equation. We pilots live by a mantra of "expectation zero". Which simply means that we can expect no good will from our employer. If there is an easy way and a hard way, the company defaults to the hard way even if it ultimately costs them more money. Please realize that this is life at brown. We have more management personnel than any other airline & we have more active grievances. We have had 3 major screw ups in crewmember paychecks in less than a month and you get nothing but a busy signal when you try to call and ask about anything. To top it off, it takes twice the industry standard length of time to settle a contract. If you think you are qualified to work at UPS and the above does not appeal to you, please wake up and apply elsewhere.

UPS application; I've been here 20+ years. Good benefits, good pay, good people to work with. But NEVER, EVER accept a position as a UPS "manager". I use that term manager loosely, as they don't manage ****. They work a desk in the day, fly at night. No union protection, fly by FARs. NURPS ( non union replacement pilots ) are not liked or respected at UPS. NURPs/management pilots will be required to fly strike goods, live on a pager, have no job protection & allow UPS to not hire the correct amount by working their arse off.
The worse pilot/secretary job out there!!

Per the contract, our paycheck isn't due until....9/26....today. Looks like everyone is getting their checks on time, per the contract. Major screw up???
1 contract got dragged out. Don't forget that we are partly to blame for that. There was no illusion as to who we were negotiating with.
We may have a $hit ton of greviences but we got the best grievance man in the business doing a ton of excellent work.
If you have a valid argument against coming to work for Brown that you feel is important for potential new guys to understand then please speak up. Bitshing about trivial $hit and trying to scare guys off cause you are having a temper tantrum serves no purpose and doesn't help the guys out there trying to make informed employment decisions.

Competitive? Yes. But, when I applied I was less qualified than today. Unfortunately, being unable to update information each time they perform a search I would be overlooked.

I don't think a multi-billion dollar, multi-national corporation not being able to properly pay its employees because of a 401k election on the signing bonus or contractual union dues reduction falls in the "trivial sh!t" category.
The contract was TA'd on 30 June; its not like either of those things snuck up on the company the same way Peak and summer vacations do every year...

Well, the bonus $$ isn't due until the end of the month and the issue that did occur only happened with guys who elected the 401K option. It will be a major screw up if it isn't resolved by October.
