I worked at two Single-pilot 135 operators prior to my current 121 regional job, each one was better than then the next.
I don't have the 1000 multi-engine jet PIC (about 300 short, and I'm reserve here in LA and the block hours is SLOW to come by) some Caravan time and other piston single pilot PIC time from my Bank Check gig.
You guys and gals think it will be worth my time going to the FAPA job fair in April and talking with a recruiter?
Working for UPS at ONT would be 'Huge' and I want to be there.
Thanks y'all

It's never too early. Get your name attached with a face. During my interview, they brought up my very first application (pre 9-11 when you applied with a paper app) when I wasnt really qualified.

Absolutely. The 1000 is now preferred but those with less than a thousand are probably going to have to stand out on some way. Personal contact would be extremely helpful. Good luck, they really look barf to find people that truly want to be here.

what is the typical schedule/equipment for a new-hire ?
how many years seniority until you can expect to be off on Thanksgiving, Christmas.
legit question, if the answer is "10 years" please post it

Every airframe and domicile is currently available to newhires; class assignments are at company's discretion based on training capacity and Crew Planning's cloudy crystal ball. Each class gets the company drop and 'bids' for assignments based on class seniority (age).
Schedule is fleet & domicile dependent, but generally speaking newhires can expect Reserve A (midnight-noon) or a Base Trip Line, which are lines with short trips/more reports, shorter blocks of days off, and can swing you from day to night and back.
I've been here three holiday seasons, the first as plug in the seat, and have not worked a Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years (got home around 2am Christmas day twice). Living in SDF made that possible; commuters' mileage will certainly vary.

100% it would be worth your while.
Young guy in my class had a solid resume, albeit no heavy time or international experience. He spoke with a recruiter 2.5 years ago and they established communications... he went to Emerites and flew the 777 for 16 months and got hired. Now he's got a 32 year career at UPS ahead of him.
I'm a newbie here so my experience is very limited, but from what I've been told by others on this board, and speaking with pilots as I get to know them... Brown hires from a variety of backgrounds.
