The ANC Newhire 'Bonus'

It was $1,500/every 28 days until your 1 year anniversary date, beginning AFTER you completed your move with Cartus to the ANC domicile. So if you moved in your 11th month of probation, you got a grand total of $1,500. It was a big draw to move for a small few, because your bank deposit increased from about $1,000/2 wks to over $1,650/2 wks (flying international heavies).

What's the schooling situation up in ANC for those with kids?

Is there talk about a true crew base there? I remember flying into Bönn at night a few years ago and thinking I had accidentally landed in SDF?? I asked my FO if UPS had evacuated the States, :D

Having lived 4 years in Germany, it would be cool for some families to experience it.

Nah, some guy in the sort had an interesting argument in favor of it and that was one of his talking points. Just having a little fun. He did say he heard UPS doesn't think it would be cost effective based on our relative size.

I think a joint Philly/EWR base would be more likely.

FAR - 117 Cargo Carve-Out effectively killed it. They were looking at it before due to more restrictive dead-head language and other minor changes but since we became exempted we'll probably never see an international domicile.

For those in the jobs search, some
news from the inside: the 300 new hires planned for this year are solely due to demands created by our new contract and, I assume, projected retirements. Staffing for the 14 firm dash 8 orders will be on top of that and mostly in 2018 and beyond. Might eventually see a 3,000 strong pilot group after all...

Only 18 years late. lol- Still remember Ken Maze and Bill Beale saying "3000 by the year 2000" many, many times. 10 years of stagnation is something we can never get back. Luck of the draw as Airline careers go.

The one's getting hired today will have the total opposite; a stellar career. And I mean Stellar.

The mock bid indicates the captains are solidly into 2006, 8-2006 to be exact, that will probably change a little but it will stay in 2006 I believe.

longhauler 12-22-2016 08:30 AM

where did you see the mock bid?
