Says the ex-Astar pilot. You would be just a little biased.

The Abx Air pilot group is on its heels thanks to the current 1224 leadership. Look at the substandard 737 Southern deal being blessed by the 1224 Teamster leadership plus the shifting of assets away from Abx to Atlas. This has not been by chance. It has been a well-orchestrated strategy - So much for the letter of solidarity.

So now it is spun by CA Wells to say it is a good deal for Abx Air pilots for the planes to go to Atlas because of preferential hiring. Ok, so take a 17-year Abx guy and put him as a new hire at the bottom of the Atlas list. Atlas gets an experienced already trained Abx pilot, at first year pay and benefits and DHL maintains system integrity. Now DHL has a first year pay scale pilot doing the same job for much less at Atlas.

CA Wells says DHL and Atlas management are OK with the plan for preferential hiring. I am sure they are.
I'm confident that Wells, Atlas and DHL all conspired in this deal to screw ABX. But we are all one big happy 1224.

(ATSG was not making much money off those 4 airplanes).

WILMINGTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Air Transport Services Group, Inc. (ATSG) said today that its airline subsidiary, ABX Air, has received termination notices from DHL affecting four DHL-owned Boeing 767-200 freighter aircraft that ABX Air leases and operates within the U.S. under terms of the Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (CMI) agreement between the companies. DHL sought bids to operate the aircraft from other vendors earlier this year.

The notices are effective in late December 2014 for two aircraft, and in January 2015 for the two remaining aircraft. This reduction in CMI operations for DHL will likely reduce ATSG’s earnings from continuing operations by less than one cent per share in 2015. Excluding those four aircraft, ATSG currently operates 21 freighter aircraft over scheduled routes for DHL, including 17 Boeing 767s and four Boeing 757s.

And why wouldn't he be biased? He already had his turn in the barrel. Now its your turn. So sorry for you and the guys who stand to lose their jobs. One day it may be the turn of the guys at Southern or Atlas. This is the way DHL rolls. When they bought all of those 757s from BA in the nineties and divvied them up between EAT and DHL Air UK, they bought themselves a ton of leverage with two pilot groups. And they used it. No conspiracies here. Just business as usual at DPWN/DHL.

Ready, fire, aim conspiracy theory drivel. Unfortunate situations such as this will always bring out the must blame someone mentality.

I would normally not give first posts such as these the time of day. But in the 1% chance that you're not a troll, do you care to provide evidence to your reckless accusations on Atlas' Exco?

Look, I feel your pain and have been there myself. I sincerely hope that all ABXers land on their feet. But posts such as yours is nothing but a disservice to your brethren.

I think most of us "get it".....Atlas, Kalitta and other bid it... the "Giants" got it... what many take offense at is the callousness in which CA Wells in his 1224 announcement stated .. and I paraphrase...."if ABX wasn't going to get it.. its best that Atlas did"... says the head of the union and an ATLAS CA.... just a bit more tact might have been warranted.
