Bingo.
From what I am hearing, and this is just my personal take, but I have formulated it from talking to my CP, DALPA Reps, and management briefings -The Top three management "Wants" in the next contract:
1. Increased Pilot Productivity
2. Tighten up sick leave
3. Increased duration of seat-locks
If any of these items interest you, I suggest you start calling/e-mailing your reps and let them how you feel.
Scoop
Question: I am on reserve for January, and would like to use a payback day on one of my on call days. There is good coverage for the day I want to use the payback day. The problem is 4 days of on call in a row is the minimum for my category. Will they let me use a payback day if it breaks the minimum 4 days in a row on call, and leaves me with only 3?
I know payback days strategy was addressed at length a month or two ago. Anybody remember where in this epic thread all that info rests? Thanks!

Left field question. Has anybody heard of or possibly know (knew) Captain William E. Harris? He was a Delta Captain long ago. I have stumbled upon his log book and for sale at a second hand store. I don't know about others but my log books are very personal to me and I would want them passed on as part of my legacy. I will buy them if I think I can some how pass them on to someone that they might have meaning for.

Q: What happens to my payback days if they are not used in the current year?
A: If the days have not been used prior to January 1, they will automatically be converted to supplemental (SUPP) vacation days to be used in the subsequent vacation year. If you wish to use the days in January, February, or March, you may enter a request for a personal drop, and then contact a Crew Scheduling supervisor to have the days of the personal drop converted to payback days, if desired.
It's all about the Benjamins.
All problems are solved by pay rates.

Well, now that is cleared up.
Duplicate post.
But dang apcf is annoying to type on with a phone. I have no trouble on any other forum except this one and the ones that have this same looking format.

This isn't pointed at you, Drank, because I understand you're just passing it along.
Don't accept less paid sick time for anything- you may not think you need it when you're younger or healthier, but unknown sick events have a way of creeping up on you. When that happened to me and I used up all my sick time, I was very happy to have a normal amount of sick to get a regular paycheck. We can't go to work "and tough it out for the day/week/month" while we get better like almost everyone else in the working world.
We have to be at 100% to make good decisions and handle emergencies.

But I'd like pd days too. If your kid is in the hospital and you can't fly it's unpaid personal drops unless you say you're sick. But by the letter of the rules you're not sick. So it's not fun as youre facing a mountain of hospital bills to also go without pay, especially on RES where those days can't be made up. The incentive then is to just call in sick. Stressed.
I wouldn't mind being able to add paid PDs. Maybe they're a sick day multipled by some factor. But I'd like that. Seems like it could be a win win, generally those who would benefit are those with young family's who don't use their sick leave as often as you old farts. If you're an old fart you retain sick leave bank as is if that's what you want.
Speaking of that, talking to my brother-in-law who is a comptroller and he explained how removing 50+ year olds from your payroll and health benefits saves a company about 30%. It is what it is. He's over 50 btw. I'm sure the company sees that as well. Luckily we are protected but I just don't see them not asking for something.
Not a supporter of this. Same equipment same base...maybe, else start next.
