Is it true you don't get to go home at all during new hire training?

Not true, about 3/4 of our class went home between ground school and sim. I live on the west coast, so it would have been tough trying to do it with just 3-4 days off in a row. A couple of guys lived within about 2 hrs drive from FLL so they just went home most weekends. It's not that you can't go home, you just don't have alot of time off to go home. From the time I started class to the time I was signed off to the line, was exactly 2 months.

When I went through 2.5 years ago the biggest hurdle was getting cleared in CASS. Until you're cleared in CASS to jumpseat they will positive space you to any Spirit destination. If you don't live near a Spirit destination then you're kinda stuck until cleared in CASS, which took our class about a month.

Think there was an email saying no more positive space home during training. Don't know if it's due to money or someone screwing it up and not making it back in time. (Which I know has happened.)

They definitely do not positive space you home anymore. In fact, they tell you in the welcome packet that they do not want you to travel home during training. Jumpseating home is possible after you're in CASS. Took about 4 weeks for me.
