Hats are too cool!!! July 1st was a real turning point for our company because I now am fully convinced, without a shadow of doubt, that we will indeed conquer not only the Deltoids but every other airline out there because we now wear hats. There is some sort of super power in our hats! I feel it when I wear it! It's like I'm a new person or something! It's tho cool!!! I especially love wearing my hat because I get to now put into practice the customer service skills that I have acquired from attending the PDM and Flight Path. Now, more people hand me their luggage and ask me to check their bags. I am now onboard 1000% because I am Alaska! Oh and how about them ties? Though they are interim ties, they look most excellent because they stand out from any of our uniform pieces. It's almost like a highlighter on my shirt and I feel that we no longer need reflective belts at night. But the most impressive innovation is the PA. When I hear a captain make his PA while safety pausing the boarding process, I get chills down my spine because I'm so impressed with his charismatic PA. The passengers are also in awe as they are busy texting their friends and telling them all about the captain's PA. I looked back there one time when the captain was making a PA, and I thought I was watching a porn scene. There they were...... passengers making that face just before a porn star experiences orgasm-head back, eyes rolled back, and mouth fully open. My hat's off to the genius who cracked the code and made this happen. He surely must be ALPA trained. Promote to Chief of Sick Leave Tracking Division and groom for upper management training in residence!

Passengers really like to be PA'ed to death.
True, but DL has a secret weapon. Our FA's talk, constantly, from pushback to engine shutdown. Passengers love that. They are scared when they fly and they hate silence.

Funny you should mention PDM & FlightPath. I'm hearing rumors that Anglers want to put the pilots through the Beyond Kool-Aid sessions. Hey, as long as it all pays the same, I'll sit there and try to keep my eyes open. I just hope they serve good food and coffee.

Obviously you haven't been on an ALK flight recently. The PAs are non-stop. I especially like hearing the FAs sell the credit card. Most keep it fairly short, while some just drone on and on about how wonderful the VISA Signature card is.

Too bad some of you missed the "kiss the MVPs a$$" training. It was wonderful. And be sure to thank Capt. K for the stand up PAs.

Hey guys! (That's how we say hello here in the south). I have been looking through the Alaska posts for the last few days. I see a lot of comments about scope and hats and ties and kook-aid, all things I'm somewhat familiar with as an almost 25yr military guy. I have also seen comments amounting to 'even with all the queep it's the best place to work'.
My question is this; is it true? Would you do it all over again?
I grew up just outside Portland. I want to come back to the NW. I think it would be nice to be one of 1500 instead of 1 of 15,000.
I'm planning a full-court-press at Oshkosh to get picked up. I struggle with the idea of telling other companies no in order to get my perseaved first choice, Alaska.
Would you do it all again?

A decade ago, yes this was a good place to be. Today, I'd look at the big three. They have better pay (soon2b much higher), better 401K, and significantly better career progression. If living in the northwest is your #1 objective and don't mind working for a mom&pop airline, then Alaskan is a good choice. btw, what did you fly for Uncle Sam? Just curious.
