Idk about that. Foreseeable future could mean anything, I mean who can foresee even 2 weeks from now? It could be gone forever, it maybe just until things stabilize and trend back up...which could be a long time to be fair

I don't think current plans are to completely close the base. A temporary realignment is more likely. Fortunately it also sounds like they are considering taking CAREs loans, which would make us basically furlough proof until the end of September.

Remember this at the end of May when the union and the company want us to continue to get 60 hr min guarantee “to prevent furloughs”. If they take govt money and unless they can come up with some other legitimate reason for reducing our guarantee, we should snap back to 75 hrs AND nobody gets furloughed.

My crystal ball is broken but my opinion is that IAD will close. I hope I’m wrong but I think we should all at least be thinking about the very real possibility of it closing.

It's not that you can't say it came from China. But don't pretend it doesn't have consequences. People will be irresponsible and blame Chinese people writ large when it is not the fault of Chinese people writ large. It's not even the fault of Wuhan. Just call it Covid-19 please.

So naming them after the location of origination is wrong when it's China, but okay when it's anywhere else on earth.... okay, got it, thanks.....

they probably won’t announce that they received any money until they secure 60 hour or less lines again.

By calling the "China Virus" or "Chinese Virus" you are not telling people where it came from, you are creating an engrained subconscious link between China and Chinese people, and this pandemic. Not the government, not the irresponsible market animal vendors; Chinese people.

If you want to go out there and say, hey this virus originated in China and their government is complicit in the worldwide spread by not regulating these markets and suppressing free speech, I'm here for it. Totally agree. But "Chinese Virus" does not accomplish that goal whatsoever.

There is a lot of power in a name, and insisting on associating this virus with China in general *will* result in irresponsible actions against people from China who did nothing wrong.
