It’s called scope and the UA pilots won’t give an inch. The only way is they BK

Don’t need scope to run the 50 seat jets.

Well technically I think I has to be 90% or less of narrow body flying.

Still though, in an environment of down gauging, 50 seats are less restricted than say 76 seaters.

This is correct. 90% of narrow body is still (normally) a lot of flying though.

UA said nothing really about UAX in their town hall today, but they were beating the "get ready for furloughs" drum hard. I really thought SK was gonna cry which...well it's doesn't inspire confidence.

Because when mainline renegotiated there contract they made sure that mainline has to keep a percentage of flying in house. Mainline pilots learned for the ‘08 recession where regionals were able to expand before furloughed mainline got a call back.

I wish they would cut out all rjs .
it would sting for a min, we would have to go work at Walmart or drive a fed ex truck for awhile but in the long run it will be more mainline jobs for us all .

They’re the worst to fly with. They always blame everyone else for their problems. Like stop blaming women and immigrants on the fact you can’t afford your three divorces and are a regional lifer. Take some responsibility for where you’re at in life.

Nobody was talking about revoking green cards. The conversation was about "short term" visa's like H1B.

It was also pointed out that pilots in the USA on this type of Visa would be a few hundred at most. Not exactly a flood.

I pointed out that there are thousands of Americans working abroad on similar visa's in countries that may not need them now either.

Who else is not ready to see where the re alignment bid puts themselves at end of day tomorrow. There’s going to be a lot of pilots in two bases. I was expecting the company to maybe put out a program in place like others have where it knocks min guarantee down to like 30 or 45 hours and you have them month off.

My guess is we won’t see the results until next week. Contractually they have a week at the close of any vacancy / realignment. Welcome to extended reserve, at least there’s a Dunkin by the ORD crew room.
