Doesn't make much sense to me to waste that kind of money but hey I just smash buttons.

The passengers really hate the 50 seater that much huh?

My home town 30 years ago was serviced by a Beech 1900. Everyone hated it. Then we got a Saab 340 and everyone loved it for the first week then they hated it. Now we have a 50 seat jet and still everyone hates it. Overhead bins too small no wifi etc.

You could fly a brand new 180 seat jet with free liquor, wifi and all premium seats and people would still complain. Plenty of 50 seat operators have sector flight times 45 and less. It makes no sense to put larger equipment on a 30 min sector say ORD to Davenport (30 mins flight time) or EWR to Albany which has the same flight time.

The whole "50 seaters are gone" statement by Kirby makes me laugh because it's a huge chunk of the business. Many of the airports served by XJT, AW etc aren't busy enough to support a bigger aircraft unless you drastically reduce frequency. This is a guaranteed way to loose customers.

I know things aren't great right at the moment but we will get over this and how we emerge depends greatly on what is decided now. Don't wanna wake up one morning and find Envoy are now dominating your once safe route network.

My home town used to be served by a metroliner on an EAS route. That is long gone now and those people drive 2+ hours to a larger city to fly. The same arguments about not being able to serve a market with anything bigger than a 50 seat jet, are the same made by those who said that those same markets wouldn’t support anything bigger than 19 seats years ago. The market adapts. You may laugh at Kirby’s comments, but the entire 50 seat fleet is getting old, the customers don’t like them, and there isn’t a replacement. What do you suggest that they do? Look at this from a management or customer perspective, not someone who depends on those aircraft for a paycheck.

There is a difference between the 15 passengers a day that get on the 2 EAS flights driving 2 hours and the 150 people that get on the 4 50 seat flights a day driving, especially when they will still have delta and AA giving them the option to not drive. UAL is backed up against a scope wall. They can try and condense to bigger but if it doesn’t work with the customers they have other options.

As I said previously passengers will complain no matter what they get. I have had passengers tell me that time of departure and price dictates which airline they choose. Very rarely is it type of aircraft.

If a passenger wants to fly La Guardia to Buffalo at midday they aren't going to leave 3 hours earlier or later to get a seat on a 175 as opposed to a midday Crj200. Unless of course you appeal to their pocket.

Lastly, if someone placed a big enough order with Embraer, production of the 145 would start again tomorrow.

People will complain no matter what. Just put WiFi (electronic babysitter) on board and people would be happy being connected while in flight.
