if that was the plan , why spend all the money to add the ac to our certificate? It’s money thrown away for no reason if that’s the case .
They buy g7out and take over their certs .

It's not necessarily a waste. It puts them in a position to either bid for and take the flying, or buy or merge with GJ. They'd have to do a lot of manual revision anyway to make sure the procedures are consistent etc. It puts AW staff in a better position to adapt to new aircraft quickly.

Outbidding g7 , Skywest will be very difficult, especially Skywest. In addition Skywest owns 25 of the 550s g7 flies . I’m sure if something happened to g7 Skywest would recover and fly those planes themselves. The remaining ac who knows ??

Skywest makes more money leasing the airplanes than they do operating them (well, when the bill gets paid, which G7 has a problem being able to pay), so I think they'd rather lease them than operate them.

SkyWest will also want to be replacing a significant amount of flying as the 200’s are eventually phased out. They fly a bunch of them.

Well they'd have to add the 200 to the gojet certificate then.., or add the 700/550/w/e to the AW certificate. Either way, the money has to be spent, no getting around that.

Adding the 700/900/550/w/e to the AW certificate makes more sense, as then they can just surrender the gojet cert if they do decide to buy gojet, or if gojet goes under, they can just assume the planes, or they can even go another direction with the 700/550/900 w/e.

SkyWest would much rather make money leasing planes to someone else willing to operate in the CF that is the east coast then go operate those planes on the east coast themselves. ZW has experience and presence on the east coast and doesn't seem to mind it.

If it were true that Skywest were impossible to outbid, then we wouldn't have the flying that we currently have today. We directly compete with them in the 200 market and yet we won a contract in 2017 and we've basically taken over ORD and IAD with a few skw flights around too. That could happen just the same with the 550s.

In the single class 50 seat market we clearly have the most in ORD. It doesn't take a detective or stats to see that.

And OO/YX are increasing 175 numbers out of ORD while ZW is still rocking the deuce.
Not exactly something to be proud of imho.
